Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication
We use Veeam Backup & Replication across many customer systems for complete system backup and business continuity. Veeam Backup & Replication replaces a legacy backup product that relied on taps and system agents. Veeam not only reduces backup time significantly but also recovery time and vastly lessons support. Veeam Backup & Replication has opened the door for us to implement offsite replication and verification of backups and client disaster recovery plans. Veeam Backup & Replication has given me and my customers peace of mind when it comes protecting business assets.
Pros
- Veeam's incremental backup provides much faster backups than other products that were used in the past.
- Recovering files from Veeam is very straight forward and fast we can have a lost [file] back within minutes. With the speed that Veeam provides, its a great experience for ours customers.
- Exchange item level restore is amazing, within a few minutes I can have an entire mailbox restored to the system without any downtime of the mail store.
Cons
- Backup copy job can be complicated to manage when preforming them over a VPN. The WAN optimisation they have introduced recently help with this vastly but improvements could still be made
- When starting a restore the first option dialog can be confusing for new users and required some instruction.
- Veeam Backup & Replication has a very simple licensing model meaning no need for complicated agent licensing.
- With Veeam's speed employees can spend much less time dealing with restoring data; this provides better customer service for the customers.
- With Veeam Backup & Replication, we have seen a marked increase in successful backups meaning we spend less time fixing backups. This increases customer happiness - not having to worry about their backups.
We have been in the process of replacing Backup Exec with Veeam Backup & Replication for many reasons, but most importantly those reasons are that Veeam has a streamlined licensing model with no complicated agents and its overall speed has been incredible. For instance a backup that lasted 4 hours now takes 34 minutes. Since leaving Backup Exec and moving to Veeam Backup & Recovery, every backup has been a success where as with Backup Exec it would routinely fail.
