Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

Wherever we can possibly replace a current or older backup product in our environment we do so with Veeam. It has a plethora of features and we intend to use all that we can. Mostly because it just works, and works fast, but also because we bought the premium license and want to get our money's worth!
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • NAS filers
  • In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
  • Enterprise UNIX servers running Solaris & IBM AIX
  • Enterprise applications such as Oracle or SAP HANA
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • Capacity Tier to store data within object storage for longer term retention
  • License portability as your environment needs change
  • Integration with cyber-security tools for SecureRestore
  • Failover or recovery scripts/plans for orchestrated recovery
  • Integration with cyber-security tools for SecureRestore
  • Very cybersecurity focused
  • Large feature set (backups, cloud, restores, file share)
  • Easy group of people to work with during setup
  • More low-level backup access would be great.
  • Easy to find answers without having to call support
  • More backup data tier levels available
We are using Veeam Backup & Replication for just about each one of its major features and no regrets here. At first, we rolled it out slowly as is standard practice but now we just throw everything at it! As many things as can be saved, backed up, and moved off-site we get on there.
  • Restores are painless and fast
  • Automated and scripted functions available
  • Well priced for its long list of features
When you fail one too many backup restores and are sick and tired of having to tell your boss why you can bring up a backed up server. It really makes you look bad when your backup software fails. Well, Veeam gives you those little warm fuzzy feelings because it's so solid and you can gladly tell management when your backups are clean and working.
Cloud functions are pretty expansive but you must be prepared for a detailed and sometimes long setup. It's not bad once it is set up, but you gotta get past that pain-point first. Cloud storage is great, and as long as you have internet you can get to your stuff, so it's preferred.
I have all kinds of good things to say about the NAS backups. We've noticed some really interesting things. It is super quick to restore things when you need it to. And somehow it's even faster than the OEM backup tool that comes with a specific SAN like Dell, HP, or others.
It's easy to recommend something that saves you so much time and effort. Really if you can swing it, go with Veeam Backup & Replication or at least get a trial of it to compare to your current backup. It's a breath of fresh air coming from something extremely complicated such as Commvault. You'll see a difference right off the bat.
