Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

We are using Veeam Backup and Replication to protect our virtual machines on Hyper-V. Especially those servers located in our branches. Veeam provides an easy to use and works out of the box solution of our important needs.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
  • Automating test restores to validate recoverability
  • Easy integration for application level backups with their explorer dashboard.
  • Great instant-recovery feature for virtualized environments.
  • Automated restore mechanism to protect from virtual machine corruptions.
  • I understand Veeam now supports physical servers but if it can support AIX then it will be fantastic.
  • Out of the box report templates are very useful but maybe more advanced type of reporting templates can be added.
  • Support for big data objects and other open source technologies will be useful.
We are using Veeam for our branch locations with virtual workloads and it is as expected when we first used the product.
  • The ease of administration decreases human errors and learning curve.
  • The automated restore saves a lot of time compared to manual procedure.
  • Overall, our requirements are satisfied.
Manual backup of virtualized environment was prone to error and takes a lot of time. After using Veeam Backup and Replication, a lot of the steps got automated with proper visibility.
Currently, we do not have any workloads on the cloud. But we are keen to having it soon and will consider Veeam for the cloud data protection requirements.
We currently do not have this but we are looking to test it if it will offer us benefits for our existing nas filer.
For a highly virtualized environment may it be from VMware or Microsoft, Veeam Backup & Replication will be most useful. Though if there are still a lot of physical appliances then customer might need to compromise a bit with two backup solutions.
