Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

It is being used across our organization [and] is replacing our current tape-based backup exec and disk-based Quest vRanger VM backup system. We are now able to use a single application to backup both our physical, virtual, and file shares across our organization. Before this we needed two applications to do this.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
  • NAS filers
  • In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
  • Enterprise UNIX servers running Solaris & IBM AIX
  • Enterprise applications such as Oracle or SAP HANA
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • Capacity Tier to store data within object storage for longer term retention
  • License portability as your environment needs change
  • Automating test restores to validate recoverability
  • “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
  • “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
  • Capacity tiering.
  • Ease of use.
  • Instant VM restore.
  • Explanation of cloud tiering.

Yes

Did implementation of Veeam Data Platform go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?

Yes

All of our virtual & physical workloads are now protected by Veeam. The amount is as expected when we acquired the product.
  • Resolved our issue with multiple disconnected backup systems
  • Provided replication of VM backups to our DR location
Our tape library and both applications are up for renewal. That is what triggered the search for the next gen backup solution.
We are having cloud object storage as our capacity tier on top of on-premises storage.
We are backing up our NAS file shares with Veeam backup, tiering to cloud also.
If your environment is mostly virtual, it's a snap to use. Physical servers are just as easy. Veeam also integrates well with vendors of NAS filers.
