Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

We use Veeam Data Platform in many situations, but it is the primary backup platform for all systems in the Asia region. We have also used Veeam Data Platform to migrate VMs over a high latency, low bandwidth WAN circuit. It is been excellent for us in both scenarios. I highly recommend the platform for backing up VMware workloads on premise and in the cloud.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
  • Enterprise applications such as Oracle or SAP HANA
  • Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
  • NAS filers
  • License portability as your environment needs change
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • Backup multiple platforms.
  • Allow for backup to multiple types of targets.
  • Replicate virtual machines from one location to another or into the cloud.
  • It should recommend the most secure method of backup methods to ensure immutability.
  • It should maximize SnapMirror technology when using a NetApp as a backup target to replicate backups to CVO targets.
  • It should provide a centralized dashboard for backing up all PaaS services in Azure.

Do you think Veeam Data Platform delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Veeam Data Platform's feature set?

Yes

Did Veeam Data Platform live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Veeam Data Platform go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?

Yes

Approximately 150 workloads are protected by Veeam Data Platform. This was expected as we knew how many VMs were deployed in that region. We have six regional VMware clusters in Japan, Taiwan, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Singapore that all use Veeam Data Platform. We are also looking at using Veeam Data Platform for replicating VMs to a DR site in Australia.
  • Positive as we did not require expensive backup devices
  • Positive as we were able to replicate to Azure
  • Positive as we were able to manage the environment remotely.
The triggering action for us was due to aging hardware and a new network structure that required us to move to a VMware solution with multiple VMs per site. This will continue until all workloads are moved to Azure. We have continued to renew Veeam Data Platform ever since and it will continue to be our primary solution in APAC.
We use the cloud as a secondary copy of the backups to ensure that we have off-site copies in case our primary storage completely fails. This is easy and effective. It also provides an immutable copy of the data that cannot be encrypted during a ransomware attack. It also can be throttled.
Veeam Data Platform is best suited in smaller VMware environments with a handful of VMs. It is easy to setup and manage once in place and can do an excellent job of replicating VMs over low bandwidth, high latency WAN circuits. It is also excellent in replicating backups into the cloud. It can become more difficult in large data centers due to the number of proxies.
