Veeam Backup & Replication
Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform
I have used Veeam at several different organizations now. The support team has been top notched every time I have needed their assistance, and when speaking with sales personnel they were never overly pushy. I most recently set this up about 3 years ago to replace a different backup solution that after 18 months even the manufacturer could not get it to work. I had Veeam up and running within a day, and the sales team even brought in a trainer to the call to go over some of the features I had never used. They answered some questions I had as well as pointed out better ways to do what I had set up.

Cons
- I would like to see a little more automation for when adding new tape cartridges. I currently have to put in a new tape and manually set it to a library. I would like to see a feature that would allow me to automatically have it go to a designated library.
- When looking for a file within file recovery, changing dates brings me back to the root of the folder. I would like to see this be able to retain the folder location when changing dates.
- I would like the option to set the running backup storage to occur outside of the main OS drive. While some backups are running, we receive alerts that the OS drive for the backup server is at 5% or less disk space, but only because the backup process stores things to the OS drive as opposed to a secondary drive.

we currently utilize 23 jobs within Veeam which covers VM/physical backups, offsite replication, offsite backup copying, and backup to tape writing.
- It has greatly increased our backup security
- It has made our auditors happy once we configured immutable backups in the form of tapes
We had previously purchased a Dell Avamar environment. Dell was only able to partially get one of two systems up after 18 months.
we do not utilize cloud storage for backups.
We do not currently utilize this feature.
