Currently Veeam Data Platform manages data protection for all of our virtual infrastructure to include EHR, File Servers, AD Servers, and legacy 2003 servers that competitive products no longer support. We performed quite a bit of due diligence and deployed POCs in advance of the final deployment and the product met/exceeded every metric that we had.
- Data protection is not one of the sexy workloads in the environment that has a ROI contributing to the bottom line but if you don't have it and something catastrophic happens the cost is devastating.
- We transitioned from a proprietary Unitrends appliance requiring unstable agents for all backups and an unintuitive interface that was difficult to troubleshoot often requiring a support call to resolve issues . Veeam Data Platform is stable, largely intuitive, allows non-proprietary inexpensive backup targets, and I have yet to need to make a support call to resolve any issues.
Unitrends frequently failed for us at the installed agents. More often than not resolution would require creating a service ticket and having an engineer remote in to resolve it by getting into the command line to review logs and editing scripts.
We have long used competitive cloud based backups. When we transitioned to Veeam Data Platform Vault we have been impressed with the ease of use and how cost effective it is compared to competitors.
Night and day...Veeam Data Platform is intuitive, stable, reliable, and cost effective.
