Overall Satisfaction with Vertex

We use the Vertex sales tax engine to calculate U.S. Sales Tax, Canada GST/PST/QST, and Mexico VAT on our customer invoices.

Pros

  • It is a robust tool that can handle a variety cases.
  • It can handle high volume and data sets.
  • The reporting is customizable for different use cases.

Cons

  • Make it easier to search for a transaction directly on the portal.
  • Make it easier to identify the transaction between systems.
  • More user friendly reporting on the portal itself.
  • It helped automate the compliance process. At our scale, it is crucial that it is done completely and accurately.
  • There have been no negative impacts.
  • We calculate upwards of $1M+ in sales tax per month, so if that is not done correctly it would have a material impact on our financials.
I have not had any issues with the an incorrect tax rate being applied when things are configured correctly.
It is a very robust tool that can scale as companies grow. The issue is making sure we have the right expertise to configure things appropriately as we scale and increase our product suite.
The reports and interface are a not as intuitive as I would like it to be. I wish there was a interface that lets me easier search for a posted transaction.
Vertex seemingly has more capabilities than Avalara, but Avalara's user interface is more intuitive and easier to use for business users.

We have very high volume of customers which requires a lot of monthly, quarterly, and annual invoices, credit memos, debit memos to be processed.
