Vertex Indirect Tax O Series

Overall Satisfaction with Vertex

Vertex O Series is used solely by our company's sales and use tax department with support by our IT department in integrating Vertex O Series with our enterprise resource planning software and Vertex Returns 10.2. Currently, the tax department is using Vertex O Series as a database of our tax exempt customers and their sales and use tax exemption certificate numbers.
  • Clean and uncluttered interface.
  • Ease of searching by customer number.
  • Backspacing on an entered search item does not delete the character, but rather returns you to the previous page.
  • Repetitive mouse clicks to view and edit a specific item.
  • Repetitive mouse clicks when selecting sales tax exemption jurisdictions from separate jurisdiction tree window.
  • Ultimately progressing the company's goal of more accurately calculating customers' sales and use tax exemptions.
  • Integration of O Series with our ERP and Vertex Returns has taken longer than originally promised.
I was not involved in the evaluation process for Vertex O Series, and used Paylocity for a different employer in an HR/payroll capacity.
  • Vertex Returns 10.2
  • JDE
After use of the system and its connectivity to Vertex Returns 10.2 and our ERP system went live in April, we are still facing interface issues 5 months later.
I cannot speak from personal experience, but our IT staff has found contacting Vertex support staff to be challenging. One coworker has gone through several support tickets because he was an unrecognized contact. He has also expressed frustration that communication with support staff is conducted solely by email, drawing out issues over an extended length of time that could be more easily resolved by a brief phone call.
While the complete impact of Vertex O Series is still in progress, it has helped streamline the process of excluding sales and use tax charges against tax exempt customers. Our primary sales and use tax analyst is also looking forward to the capabilities to send automatic tax exemption certificate email requests farther down the road.
I was not involved in the sales process.
I do not personally use this application often enough to provide a qualified response.
