Overall Satisfaction with VMTurbo Operations Manager

We are using this product to manage/balance resource usage of our entire virtual infrastructure. We are also leveraging policies within the product to help maintain compliance across datastores as it relates to disaster recovery, business continuity


Pros

  • Breakdown of different components of the VMware environment. (IE: CPU,RAM, I/O)... VMTurbo Operations Manager looks at MEM, CPU, IO, Net, Ready Queues, Balloon, Swap, etc when making recommendations. Everything is fully customizable and you have the ability to keep things in a recommendation mode until you feel comfortable enough to enable automation.
  • Very easy to run forecasting reports and metric for executive level employees.

Cons

  • Web interface needs more refinement. Make it easier to navigate to different screens.
  • Haven't had it in the environment long enough to asses ROI
We looked at VCOPS, and there was a lot of promises that did not deliver. So we decided to check out third party solutions.
If it makes changes automatically after it discovers lack of resources in a particular environment.
