Tableau Server takes training and experience in order to unlock the application's full potential. This is best handled by a qualified data scientist or data analytics manager. Tableau user interface layout, nomenclature, and command structure take time and training to become proficient with. Integration and connectivity require proper IT developer support.

There are some limitations to the overall good functionality of Tableau. Here are some of them:
-Cumbersome formula Entry
-Limited line graph functionality and options
-The color options are not clearly defined
-The functionality in some areas could be much better.
-It is sometimes difficult to find certain fields when they are required to be updated.

Tableau Server is unbeatable at creating easy to use, interactive dashboards for busy executives. The software also saves time for the busy analyst that is tired of always using Excel. Tableau Server is a head and shoulders improvement over Excel.

I think the use case we described earlier about a non-technical user that was copying/pasting data into Word during emergencies is our best reason. This person had little technical ability, and the Tableau mobile solution powered by Tableau server completely resolved the issues. She has since become one of the most vocal proponents of Tableau.

It's extremely easy to use. As the depth of its abilities have increased, I think Tableau has done a very good job of maintaining that usability - there are some aspects though that are not as intuitive as the rest of the product - table calculations for example.

User experience is the most important factor to consider whenever considering capabilities for non-technical business users. If the learning curve is so steep business users must be advanced users to be productive, you hit the wall of diminishing returns, this is exceptionally true when it comes to analyzing data. Transforming data analysts into BI development experts shifts the focus of the analyst from analyzing data to mastering software. Tableau does a masterful job at minimizing the technology and maximizing the users understanding of their data.

Tableau is very easy to use for both novice/non-technical users up to the most skilled developer. Tableau constantly makes improvements to the menus and "Show Me" features to allow users to get the most out of the product in the least amount of time.

The application is generally very easy to manipulate both for administrators and users. However, we do have some setup on individual desktop versions (setting up filters, etc) which takes some time.
