What is Zoom Workplace?

Zoom Workplace brings communication, employee engagement, spaces, and productivity solutions together on a single platform with Zoom AI Companion capabilities woven throughout. It is designed to streamline communications with AI-powered tools that work together through solutions like Meetings, Team Chat, Phone, Mail & Calendar, and Scheduler. A chat can be elevated to a meeting or phone call to get to a resolution faster, and the solution drives productivity with products that are built for modern work through solutions like Whiteboard, Clips, Notes, Surveys, and Docs.

We use it for outside and inside meetings. Makes work from home possible. Zoom Workplace allows us the flexibility to choose where our participants meet. We have several remote offices so Zoom Workplace is a good product for our ongoing usages. We are moving to M365 but we plan to continue using Zoom Workplace.

  • Updates to client software is insane. Having to uninstall the previous version before installing the new version is so old school
  • Software does not auto update in a managed domain without considerable effort on the part of IT

The updating of the product is an issue. Once that gets resolved, I would think this will be a really great product. Zoom is doing an ok job of staying abreast of new technologies so that is good, sometimes I think they could do more (the way Teams is always improving.) Bringing Chat back into Zoom Workplace will be good too.

We use it for all internal and external video calls and the Team Chat feature for all internal chat communication. Some key users have used Zoom Whiteboard for brainstorming during video calls. Before moving to Zoom, we had at least four different products covering one or more of those functions. Now, moving to Zoom, we've drastically simplified internal communication.
  • It is easy to log in to Zoom video calls in various ways (phone, computer, audio, internal or external).
  • Organization of Team Chats, with Channels and personal chats, is easy to find, and the threaded chats also help.
  • Many, many settings for our org account.
  • Continued issues with Outlook integration.
  • Almost too many settings, hard to find what you need as an admin.
  • Meeting Chats section of Team Chat can be confusing for users.
It is well suited for hybrid or all-virtual teams, especially for teams with many communication apps and a desire for streamlining. It is also good for teams with both PCs and Macs and for users who want a simple interface. However, it is less ideal if teams are already committed to a different video and/or chat app.

Zoom has brought together our teams in a greater collaborative way than previous tools. The ease of interacting in in one platform for phone, chat, video, groups, etc., plus the added benefit of file sharing and AI capabilities, make this an easy decision. We have been on the platform for many years after switching from other VOIP providers at the time. Continuous product improvements and updates.

  • Zoom captures data from all the various modules. Sometimes, finding what you are looking for can be difficult.
We have a fully remote workforce operating in a wide range of locations. The simplicity of the plans removes complications around budgets and costs. We find the tool much more useful than MS Teams.

We need a reliable tool to communicate with customers, prospects, vendors and other outside entities. In particular, we use Meetings and Phone on a regular basis for those communications. This could be ad-hoc meetings or scheduled meetings. Often times it includes video calls to ensure that we are all on the same page.

Zoom Workplace works well for communication with outside parties. It is reliable, consistent, and easy to add to interactions. However, there is some overlap between Zoom Workplace and other tools that we use which makes some of the offering unnecessary and decreases the value of the offering.

We conduct weekly meetings of up to 20 attendees. The meetings alternate between hybrid and online. We have half of the members on premises, and half are spread from the USA to Japan, with Europe and Africa in the middle. Zoom Workplace allows us to meet effectively and efficiently to conduct our club business.

  • I don't like that the control bar at the bottom of the screen shifts when I open the chat or the participants side bar. It means I cannot open and close without moving my mouse. I think it would be better instead of shrinking the control bar, move items into the More area.

Zoom Workplace is disappointing. I was first impressed with Zoom Workplace as a video conferencing tool, and that's still their greatest strength and core competency. They do that well, perhaps better than anyone else.

However, in my opinion, their support and customer service is awful. I'd ditch Zoom Workplace in a heartbeat if we hadn't invested in Zoom Rooms, and will migrate away when are equipmenourt needs replacing.

Also, in my opinion, thery're so anti-Microsoft, they don't have a Teams plugin which would make improve their phone application greatly.

There are sometimes Teams issues when attending virtual meetings. Therefore, Zoom Workplace is great with attending meetings! I rarely have connection issues, there are several virtual backgrounds and helpful tools like whiteboards that allow interactive presentations. I think that it is super easy as well to schedule an appointment and easy access to discuss with my team!

Zoom Workplace is very well suited when I need to reach out to a client and schedule a call with them. I am able to blur my background and do other features for my privacy. However, I do not like that there is a free version that limits the amount of time I can use it. I understand being behind a paywall to get a license, but the limit is very small and can cause issues when attempting to troubleshoot an issue.

  • Support system is lacking. The support team that responds to tickets is often lacking in knowledge, or does not pay attention to the questions/issues in the tickets.
  • giving more levels of access (currently it is admin, or user), it would be nice to see some levels in between, or easy-to-use custom permission sets
  • multiple instances of Zoom automatically deleting meetings that had been scheduled very far in advance.
Although there is some room for improvement, Zoom blows it's competition (MS Teams, Skype, etc.) out of the water.

If you need video conferencing software, Zoom delivers on just about any scenario you may think of. From a book club meeting, to hosting an event for 1000 people, Zoom can do it all!

I use Zoom Workplace to conduct meetings with team members and clients, conduct online training sessions, and demo our product for potential clients. My company is completely virtual and we support and collaborate with people all over the world, so it is important to be able to meet with people via an online tool using video and audio, screenshare, and text chat.
  • Screensharing is easy and works quite well
  • Video is good quality
  • Audio is good quality
  • Recording options work well
  • It would be nice if the chat for a session were available to everyone joining, even if they join after a message was sent. That way you don't have to repost things for people who join late.
  • Sometimes the virtual background doesn't mask well around the edges of my hair.
  • It would be nice to be able to select and export several recordings at once. In the Recordings tab, you can select several items, but it only downloads a spreadsheet of recording info, not the actual files.
  • When you download a recording, it would be nice to have the filename include the title of the meeting, and not just the timestamp.
It is great for meetings, presentations, demonstrations, and instructor led training. It is not very good for informal social gatherings, since only one person can easily speak at a time, so it is difficult to strike up side conversations and you end up taking turns talking, with one person "holding court" at any given time.

Allows for good collaboration across the workplace. Today I use the tool to chat with employee regardless of location. It serves as a one stop shop to get answers and helps to eliminate emails on urgent items.

We use Zoom for Attorney/Client meetings just about every day. This allows our attorneys and even staff to be flexible in when and where they take meetings. We also use Zoom for various department and group meetings, which allows for great collaboration and aligns with our varying work from home schedules.

I use Zoom Workplace for as my go to virtual meeting resource - basically by default. I need a consistent link to use on a regular basis that doesn't change for recurring meetings and I need to be able to launch a meeting on the fly and Zoom Workplace makes it super easy to do that.

Nicely integrated with Slack - good controls over user access - nice availability to push a 3rd party app out across users - great way to set universal controls/settings for a team - I can't say it any simpler, but it just works - has the features we need and probably a lot more that we don't use, but are there if you need them

Since I work within IT team we have created multiple groups specific to various tasks within our team to have things ecalated in an orderly fashion and use this more than email to keep track of progress.
We also Zoom Workplace to send scheduled messages so use them for alerts, reminders and notifications as well.

The Scheduler simplifies appointment management, Surveys provide immediate and valuable feedback, and Docs support enhanced collaboration with customizable workspaces. These tools collectively make Zoom Workplace an excellent choice for our team to optimize our workflows and stay connected effectively.

  • Workspace Reservation - never seemed to be very useful for our team

Zoom Workplace is an important part of our workplace as we are a hybrid company with most employees working remotely. Zoom Workplace is an invaluable collaboration tool between the core employees and the 1099 contractors who offer our services.

  • Keep connected regardless or where you are...as long as there is a connection.
  • Recording meetings so there is a record of the meeting can be essential.
  • I would like to see the use of someone else's screen share.
  • Better filter to disguise where you are located.

We are a law firm so outside of every court appearance being a Zoom meeting we use it internally for our practice group monthly meetings and candidate interviews. Zoom Workplace allows us to be flexible with our schedules and the schedules of our clients. Zoom Workplace simply works. As the IT Administrator, if I know Zoom Workplace is being used, I can rest easy.

Video conferencing and phone services are superb. This is your bread and butter, and it shows. I think it is a near flawless system. The cost-free addition of AI is a game changer. As a law firm, we dont need to provide video conferencing licenses to everyone but in order for a legal assistant to "assist" their attorney with their schedule, we have to pay for a license. Otherwise, the LA would not be able to schedule on behalf of their attorney. I think this should be changed. I don't think a full license should be required.

We have used Zoom Workplace in our synagogue since the beginning of the pandemic (March 2020). We initially used it to enable our religious school to move to online programming as well as for our lay leaders and staff to meet. We also used it for our worship services, and as the basis for our service streaming. In 2021, we added Zoom Room capabilities to allow for hybrid meetings and services. In 2022, we migrated our outdated telephony system to Zoom Phone.
We have found that while many things have returned to 100% in person, there continues to be a desire and demand for online and hybrid meetings and we have found the Zoom Workplace offerings continue to meet our needs.

  • Chat management is a mess. Chats just build. There needs to be some way to color coordinate, or not show the full list but collapse the history down. Too much to scroll through

We needed a phone system we could use to call staff member directly in any one of our offices without having to call the main phone line. Now instead of overwhelming our admin staff with requests to be transferred to a co-worker in that office, we can now call that co-worker directly. There's also less wasted time waiting on hold as the call is transferred.

Well suited for staff working from home or on the go. No longer tied to the office. Also works well to connect employees regardless of where they're located and have everyone in a conference call all at once.
Less appropriate as it requires an internet connection (or use of data on your phone plan). Not as convenient as a cell phone.

We use Zoom as our chat platform, video calls and we also have Zoom Phone with sms, and now we are trying Zoom Workplace. After new update and moving to Zoom Workplace, creating Zoom meetings is a challenge and attenders do not get invites, don't like that much and we only can schedule meetings using outlook add in, I would like to have ability to schedule meetings through Zoom Workplace back.

We went full remote in 2020, Zoom has been critical to the continuation of our business since then. We host all of our meetings on Zoom and run our phone system through Zoom Phone. Zoom Meetings has been extremely reliable and easy to use, it's only gotten better over the years as well. We've had large webinars, important sales meetings and even staff parties all on Zoom that went flawlessly.

Zoom is great for Webinars, general meetings and quick calls between staff members. It's excellent for complex screen sharing scenarios where you may need to show multiple windows at a time without sharing your whole desktop. It's also great for calls where audio quality matters, offering lots of customization on audio quality that others don't.

Zoom Workplace replaced Ring Central in our environment. It worked similar to RC, but it ended up saving us more money. Both solutions can potentially nickel and dime you to chisel away on your phone system budget, so make sure you pick the right plans.
The Migration was easy, but you must plan ahead of time to assure a seamless cutover.
Where Zoom edges over RC would be the voice quality of calls, ease of use, and dependable video calls.
