Amazon Linux vs. SUSE Linux Enterprise Server

we were having one scenario in which we have to install one application bundle to 7000 machines with Amazon Linux and it’s coming pre-installed with Amazon agent where we have installed and deployed the software very easily with system manager to the Amazon Linux. sometimes what it happens with SSM manager do not response and it goes off-line on Amazon Linux os frequently

We use it for every linux service we need to have running. It really works great and is easily manageable with the SUSE Manager, which helps a lot with the updating process. Although it is not stressfull on the CMD itself, it really does simplify things. Besides that, we are really happy with working with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server.

• Needs tools which should be pre-installed for network connectivity, checking like telnet etc.

• The support window for service packs after a new SP is released is too short.
• Community engagement is low.
• There are times when supported packages fall too far behind and create compatibility issues with applications. The Open Build Service usually provides a way around this, though.

I have not found much issues with Amazon Linux when it comes to Compare operating systems as we can use basically everything on this Amazon machines and comes with rubber support AWS documentation on how to work with the Amazon Linux machine very minimal downtime or impact to operating system when it comes to crashing or rebooting due to some issues.

We've been using this OS for about 8 years in a productive environment. During this time, we have never run into any problems that stopped or impacted our production environment. We have been able to solve any problem we ran into using either common sense, suse documentation or suse support.

Support personnel are helpful and fairly fast to bring resolution to non-emergency issues. Patches are created and posted in a timely fashion. We so far have not had any major problems that needed support

Third party training was fast but mostly unnecessary as we were already Unix trained and Linux familiar

Amazon Linux is very well suited when it comes to a very light operating system with all the features, high-performance in hardware congestion and good support from the Amazon. Others do have a support and good working features, but at lakhs a little bit when it compared with Amazon Linux in terms of performance and usage of the os.

We went straight to SLES when we initially started migrating oracle to hana since at that time, HANA came on a pre-installed server that had to be purchased from an official vendor, and SLES was the only allowed OS. We stuck with SLES after we became certified to do our own installations because so far, SLES was a good fit for us.

• Return of investment is much better than other operating system as we get robust Support along with OS license
• When we compare cost of Amazon Linux with other Linux operating system, then we founded, it was much cheaper and efficient in performance as well as costing for Amazon machines
• Software updates, deployment and tasks are very well handled with any hardware specifications, whether it is on very high higher specification or when it comes to low with huge workload

• SLES proved to be a very extendable product, supporting all of our infrastructure.
• The major reason I chose to use the product was the extensive enterprise peripheral support.
