Amazon Pay

For our medium-sized organization, which is a strong supporter of local businesses/entrepreneurs, and has diverse funding sources, Amazon Pay is a real asset. It is reliable, convenient, easy to track expenses and revenue, and keeps a history of transactions across various timeframes. It would be an excellent application for new and upcoming small businesses as well, minimal overhead, and a commonly accepted form of payment/garnering revenue.

TransferWise

If you need to make repeated transfers to individuals overseas or domestically, TransferWise is a great solution. The borderless account feature allows you to accept and retain money in foreign currency or easily convert it to your preferred currency.

Pros

Amazon Pay

  • We are using the BigCommerce platform, and to set-up Amazon pay I literally had to add it to our Amazon seller central account then our BigCommerce account and that was it. Extremely simple set-up process.
  • When implemented, Amazon pays integrated with our Amazon Seller Central account so we didn't need to worry about having to keep another login on file and everything regarding Amazon Pay can be easily accessed from seller central.
  • The checkout with the Amazon button that is added is very useful for our e-commerce shop and the best thing that it provides is automatic inputting of our customers' data making the checkout process easier for them.
  • Great customer service that is timely and easy to get ahold of.

TransferWise

  • It makes really quick transactions. You can transfer money to any personal account abroad really fast.
  • Transferwise charges very little for their service, in comparison with regular bank transfers and traditional providers as Western Union.
  • It shows the charges for the transaction up front. Such a cost is fixed, avoiding unpleasant surprises afterward.

Cons

Amazon Pay

  • Sign up process is a bit tedious and long, would love to see a simpler process.
  • Does not handle ACH transactions, though most processors don't...but it would be a nice feature from a leader in the industry.
  • Withdrawal times! Ugh, 5-7 days? There are other processors that are much faster...there's no reason Amazon can't be either.

Amazon Pay gets a rating of 9 because it does not drastically improve the business. That said, it allows us to offer another payment method for users who trust Amazon and will always or only checkout with Amazon Pay. The support team for Amazon Pay is top-notch and will help get all issues resolved.

Alternatives Considered

Amazon Pay

We love Amazon Pay and love that it doesn't have to be an either-or situation using these types of checkout options and solutions. We use it, as well as checkout options like Paypal, Affirm, etc. And while those other options get sales and orders, we are starting to see a lot more tractions and sales coming through Amazon Pay vs those other channels. But it is super nice knowing that we can easily use them all!

TransferWise

We had used bank transfers for several years, but TransferWise outdoes them in almost all aspects. It leaves out most of the bureaucracy, and it is agile and much cheaper. Also, TransferWise reliably sends messages as each step of the transaction is completed. Perhaps TransferWise's main limitation is that it does not support many currencies yet.

  • The money transfers became faster and more reliable.
