Amberscript vs. Azure AI Speech

Amberscript is great for transcribing individual audio (or video) files that reside on your computer. The ability to view and edit the text of the text file (to correct or remove data that you don't want to be shared) before the output is a great option. I feel it may be limited in the ability to transcribe live audio records such as phone calls or meetings, where we would find it very useful to have immediate access to a transcript (for coaching or sharing purposes). I feel the needs are more designed as a solution for pre-existing audio/video files versus working in real-time.

This service is well suited for scenarios where you need to integrate text-to-speech and/or speech-to-text into applications. Within our organisation, it is primarily used by students for development purposes to enable said functionality but is also used to provide accessibility to students who have hearing-related issues. Its multi-language support is also beneficial for our international students who have English as a second language and are therefore able to rapidly translate any text or speech that they do not understand.

• APIs offered are very robust.
• Languages supported is far greater than most of its competitors.
• Integration with our custom apps was easy.
• Speech models that we created using neural voices were quite impressive.
• Translation services worked really well.
• Built in machine learning opens it to a lot more business use cases for the future.

• There does not appear to be a way to transcribe live audio (such as a live meeting or live phone call)

• More support for India regional languages and the ability to interpret Indian dialect.
• More detailed documentation with more coded examples to be available.

I feel that Amazon Transcribe was much more feature-rich, allowing for a much more real-time solution, whereas Amberscript is great for transcribing existing call recordings (or video files) to a rich text file. Amazon Transcribe will do both, while Amberscript only does the latter. For our business, this was a significant feature loss for Amberscript.

Azure Cognitive Speech Services is simple and the interface is not complicated even for those getting started with these customer services tools and the best voice recognition. Setting the platform dashboard preferences is also an easy process and with the ability to manage workflow and document management the system functions are stable and effective.

• Having an automated speech-to-text conversion allows us to reduce human hours, which would normally take notes or have to review long audio files.
• Being able to transcribe multiple call recordings into a searchable text format allows for coaching of issues in a much more efficient format than an audio recording.
