Chose Applied Epic
We upgraded from [Applied] Tam to [Applied] Epic as we were needing new servers. The cost was a huge factor and the fact that Applieds data is backed up by them and updates are done by them, it was a huge cost and time saver for us.
Chose Applied Epic
I think it's much easier to use applied epic then TAM. More user-friendly and more intuitive. I feel Applied Epic is a much more productive solution.

[Applied] Epic is great for holding information but it does take time to enter data correctly if you want to be able to complete reports accurately[.]

A new thing we love about TAM is the opportunity section. You can create an opportunity for your producer when you get a prospect -and it really keeps track of the progress and also his book of business. This is one area that works well for my department. I love the search/filter as well. This program is SO user-friendly. It's a great tool all around no matter which department you are in.

Pros
Applied Systems
  • Account Management - I like the way the system organizes the data for each account. It is easy to search and find any client we are looking for and then once within that record, it is easy to navigate to the necessary policy or screen.
  • Task Management - once everyone was trained and on the same page, the ability to move tasks within the system from one person to the next really helps with the "passing the baton" from one team member to another. The task will come right up on the initial screen so the user knows they have something new to do.
  • Reporting - the system drives the majority of the reporting we do as an agency and it is great when working within the system.

  • TAM saves my work by letting me attach documents directly to policies or activities so I can have it for documentation or to review at a later time.
  • I also love the expiration report. It lets you know which accounts are coming up for renewal so you can be prepared to talk with your clients.
  • Creating activities is another another plus. It keeps my work organized and also is a great reminder when something is coming due or needs attention.

Cons
Applied Systems
  • Some of the questions in the applications are repetitive.
  • The manual is not especially user-friendly - our agency is working on a new one for easier navigation.
  • Better integration with our other software programs would be beneficial to our agency.

  • After I attach something there is always a pop up telling me that "doc" has been attached. It pops up at the bottom of my screen and I constantly have to "x" out of it. It's not too big of a deal-just an inconvenience.

Support Rating
Applied Systems
I have not necessarily used support from Applied Epic directly, but have gone to my trainer who has gone to support. I am usually able to get an answer relatively quickly, so I can assume the support team is very knowledgeable and prompt with their help.
