APSIS Pro

Works well, relatively easy to use - but lacks some up-to-date and modern features as well as look and feel. The support provided is OK but not world class. It is too bad as APSIS as a company is quite good at inspiring and providing insights into trends in email marketing.

  • Quick chat tool implementation in a low-volume chat environment where you do not need customizable settings.
Less appropriate
  • High volume sales or support functions where your agents might forget to import chats to your CRM.
  • Settings where you need customizable CES/NPS/CSAT customer ratings of your agents, especially if you need your scale your questions to align with other cross-functional departments in your company.

Pros

  • We have a pre-designed template and pre-build elements and thus it is quite easy to compose nice looking newsletters.
  • Doing split-tests on subject, clicks etc. is quite easy and requires no tech help.
  • Imporing new contacts and adding to the list is straight forward.

  • Segmenting customers based on your backend API. This is such a critical part of our business for giving the right communication to the right customer.
  • Ease of use/intuitive interface. This is a product that needs minimal instruction and is easy to use.
  • Search functionality. You can search by customer/lead, by conversations, by word - the search is fast and relevant. Easier still if you tag conversations consistently.

Cons

  • The user interface is not good. Too much scrolling and too many menues to navigate. Half of the pages are updated to a "new" look with the rest still being the (really) old design. This badly needs a make-over.
  • There is no one-click "send reminder to those who did not open". To send reminders, it is nescessary to build a filter a do a new send using the filter. Such a simple and often repeated task should be automated.
  • It is not possible to add a "Why did you leave us?"-page for opt-outs... Really misses this.
  • The statistics are too limited and to difficult to use - mostly due to the UI design as described above.

  • Add some features around outreach, this way we could replace some other tools we use.
  • More advanced searching within the app.
  • Incorporate AI to rate conversations/visitors on their own (or if we can add criteria and have it automated).

It's currently a perfect fit for our needs, and we are customer-focused and small. When we grow, we may need to re-evaluate, but our current team finds it easy. Reviewing conversations is simple and allows for great training. The canned replies make service fast and easy. Smart suggestions remove the need to re-write technical walkthroughs and explanations for our FAQ

Intercom has really done a great job creating a focused product that provides huge value and is super easy to use. Our entire business group and a few engineering members are using it with no training whatsoever which is super rare for any platform.

Alternatives Considered

MailChimp offers more flexibilty but also seems a bit more complicated to use. We did not use it long enough to really get an idea of the positive and negative.

Intercom met our requirements from the beginning. We did not evaluate any competitors. We use Zuora on our support team, which has some overlap, but I am not a user of that.

Return on Investment

  • We are still trying to figure out how to use this medium for sales. We have had some success with Black Monday sales, but in general we do not have much response to our emails.
  • We have increases our visibility with our customers by making sure to land in their mailbox regulary with nice looking messages.
