Well suited: 1. We use Data Central to run queries & fetch data. 2. It's an amazing tools where we create multiple profiles with Query & then create multiple job id's for each profile. & then we run the query for the jobs. 3. Its so customizable as we can fetch the data through query for a particular, day, week, month, year. Least Suited: 1. Its very complicated for new users. 2. Data integration with multiple tables is a challenging during any launches. 3. Implementation is very time consuming since it involves large amount of data. 4. The output from the query is stored for maximum of 1 year & can't be retained for more than a year.

We had Capital IQ in addition to Bloomberg. It was much easier for a new person to use Capital IQ than Bloomberg. The ease of use was a huge selling point for us. Yahoo finance on the other hand is free, but you cannot gather all the data you may need in one location like you can in Capital IQ.
Haven't tried any alternatives to Data Central as what we were looking for was very unique & customizable solutions. So, we went ahead with Data Central only. As we were able to scale our operations & appplications through it.We use Data Central to run queries & fetch data.
