Chowly
I would not recommend Chowly to any restaurant that is trying to push orders through to their POS from a third party delivery site. Any restaurant would be much better off finding a third party site that integrates directly with their POS. Using Chowly was more of a headache than it needed to be and our company switched to Checkmate (also not great) after a year with Chowly.

Compeat
Compeat is very well suited for large, sit down dining restaurants and can be too much for smaller scale establishments.

Compeat
  • It is a reliable accounting system, I like the fact that all transactions are recorded and not possible to change it after it is posted.
  • Inventory is very useful and you can scan items to help with the counting.
  • DSR are pulled automatically from our POS System
  • Bank Reconciliation is pretty easily be done and the bank extract can be imported into the system, Compeat matches transaction automatically.

Alternatives Considered
Chowly
Chowly was not as good as Checkmate, though I cannot in good faith recommend either. We ended up switching over to Checkmate after a year with Chowly due to our dissatisfaction with the service.

Compeat
Much better and more willing to "build" a product that works for our company.

Return on Investment
Chowly
  • Required a lot of attention from upper management to maintain
  • Enabled orders from Caviar to go through to the POS without staff needing to enter the orders manually, saving on time and labor
  • Due to frequent changes in our menu, Chowly could not handle these and needed to remap every single time there was a menu change.

Compeat
  • It helps us keep our costs manageable, we can keep our theoretical costs within 1% of our actual costs.
  • Creating shopping lists and par levels makes purchasing less daunting and saves hours in time.
