Clearbooks vs. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance

Larger companies, multi-currency. Clearbooks is in a competitive environment with Xero, SageOne, FreeAgent, Intuit etc., etc.

Its well suited for medium and large organizations that needs strong financial control , automated workflows , inter-company accounting and real-time reporting . It works wonderfully with all the Microsoft products . However , it may be less useful for small businesses as it requires a good investment in implementation , customization , licensing and user training

• Clear and straight forward navigation
• Good choice of management reports

• Like any SaaS product, Clearbooks is continuously evolving and being improved
• Some of the reports still need some work

As the UI is modern and user friendly which makes it easy to navigate . The dashboard , workspace and personalized view helps to access the right set of information with ease

Clearbooks was chosen 5 years ago as our accountant recommended it. There is an element of inertia in moving accounts packages.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance is more robust, and can handle larger, more complex business operations, and have better delineation between corporate management and divisions in a company, but it is not flexible, nor easy to change. It is complex, inflexible, and difficult to incorporate new workflows or business rules to accommodate changes in the business. We have changed over the past decade and while F&O is big and robust, it is not nimble.

• I am not sure that ROI is an appropriate measure for an accounts package. The cost is around £250/year, which is a tiny fraction of the cost of a bookkeeper/finance controller/finance director/CFO.

• Because F&O is not very nimble, we are looking to reimplement
• The lack of interoperability has hindered our ability to use external tools to supplement shortcomings of the product
• The inflexibility has lead to great frustration from team leads
