Chose Dynamo Software
The decision to select Dynamo Software occurred before I joined the firm.
Chose Dynamo Software
No comment as the only other software I use/ed here at Cento is Highrise, which is being deprecated. I think iLevels is another one, but that was just a demo. Can't say it was good or not, it seemed like it was more catered for bigger/heavier financial type data sets and …
Chose Dynamo Software
Main arguments were: pricing as well as the usability. Setting up Dynamo is not difficult. Especially if you don't know what you really want. Dynamo offers out of the box views. Adjusting these is simple.
Other competitiors like eFront are very customisable but need to be set up …
Chose Dynamo Software
We used Efront previously and moved to Dynamo and rate Dynamo very highly in comparison.
Chose Dynamo Software
Dynamo Software was able to offer us a CRM, Investor Portal, Accounting Software and Fund Administration solution that we couldn't find anywhere else that would allow us to easily import and export data in Excel. Other vendors practically owned our data or there was additional …
Chose Dynamo Software
Dynamo Software makes the most sense from a cost perspective for available offerings to our clients. The integration between the CRM, Accounting module and investor portal. We also appreciate the ability to customize the investor portal to the client's request all within the …
Redtail CRM
Chose Redtail CRM
Sales force is much more robust and programmable. Very involved and almost need a degree in computer science in order to get it functional. Companies like the ability to customize it to their requirements. Part of the problem however is that they are not users in the field and …
Chose Redtail CRM
We actually use both Redtail CRM and Constant Contact. Constant Contact is primarily for sending out client emails while Redtail CRM is primarily the way that we store client information and related documents for easy access. We are very happy with both Redtail CRM and with …
Chose Redtail CRM
Quite honestly, I have visibility into a number of CRM systems and Redtail stands alone as the strongest contender. It has the most thorough and customizable interface of any I have encountered. There are few other tools that offer the unmatched flexibility and the depth that …
Chose Redtail CRM
Redtail is intuitive! I love how Redtail tends to be geared specifically towards financial advisors. There are some great CRMs out there, but nothing that takes care of a niche group like Redtail does. Redtail is built to make advisors successful and comply with FINRA. If you …
Chose Redtail CRM
First off. I have a love-hate relationship with Salesforce. It's a jack of all trades, master of none. That being said, maybe you run a bigger company and need different reports for different departments... It may make sense. To be 100% honest, I rejoice every day that I am …

Its alot more Dynamic than Salesforce. It helps with CRM, investor details, investor performance, fund performance, a huge help page, customizability, etc.. Its also pretty simple to work in which is a bonus. WE use it to send out mass mailings and you can have a template that you can roll over each month so that you dont have to reformat anything. Tax documents can be delivered automatically and it just pulls information from your server so you dont need to add anything into the cloud

It is extremely well suited to client management in the insurance and financial services industries. I think it would not be nearly as useful in a retail setting as many of the features would be irrelevant.

Pros
  • Tracking relationships in the CRM and the Web Add-in tool to add new information straight from emails.
  • The flexibility to build out whatever view you would like to see certain data in and the ability to then export information to Excel.
  • The Mail Merge Tool allows us to communicate to over 100 different subsets of our limited partners in different SPVs.

Cons
  • Some functionality is clunky: Mailing Campaigns, Passthrough Integration, Dynamo Accounting Complex Transactions. At times it seems functionality is rolled out too soon.
  • Onboarding of new clients for us seems a bit haphazard. We just added a new tenant with CRM, Dynamo Accounting and the Investor Portal and we weren't exactly sure what the state of the new tenant should be based on what was copied over from a prior tenant or how much Dynamo Software time or support we would have to customize the new tenant.
  • At times it seems Dynamo Software's terminology with relationships either isn't intuitive or is repetitive creating additional time/confusion when modifying workspaces, portal set-up, etc.

  • The aesthetics of the page could use a facelift. The grey-on-white serves as a subtle clue that I should not be having fun.
  • The workflow for searching for clients could be improved/made easier.
  • The integrations management page could certainly be easier to find in my opinion. It is in an unusual spot nestled beneath my name, rather than another location.

The platform is easy to use and train on. It is a one stop shop with all the information needed to maintain a clean client relationship. We recently had our scheduled audit done and Redtail was helpful in pulling the different reports we needed to produce for the audit

Usability
The usability is great - the user interface is intuitive and easy to learn and navigate. The ability to customize the interface both at a user level and admin/system-wide level is a huge plus. Additionally, the ability to generate custom, exportable views/reports is very useful. One piece of feedback on the custom views - it would be great if all entities in the hierarchy structure (documents, contacts, funds, companies, etc.) could all relate to each other in customized views which would enhance the capabilities even further.

Was good and still is good. Seems like when a company acquires another they try to squeeze out more profit and forget what made them successful in the first place. Reducing staff and support seems inevitable, even though the number of users has increased significantly over the past 10 years

Reliability and Availability

Generally speaking, Red Tail has been available whenever needed. there was a time period however where it was down and not available, giving 500 errors when trying to log in. They explained that it was due to upgrades they were making and it has virtually disappeared. Has now been available 99% of the time.

Performance

Overall general performance is quite satisfactory. Some of the automation factors that other products have available are slowly migrating to Red Tail. When these add ons are available and fully implemented, it greatly increases the power and usability of the CRM. Occasionally there are products that will not intergrade due to the nature of how they are set up

We use the HELP section of Redtail often. If it is taking you more than 5 minutes to figure out than go to the HELP desk. We have had only great experiences when reaching out for help. We also LOVED the Redtail University we attended.

We are very happy with both Redtail CRM and with Constant Contact, for different reasons in that we use each one differently.

The biggest problem seems to have been with the email module. connection issues, sync issues, compliance updates, etc. The concept is great however there seems to be issues in getting it to work consistently. When it works, it works well. It seems that the frequency of downtime had been greatly reduced however.
