Epic MyChart vs. Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP)

Before using Epic MyChart as a company we would contact our customers to inform them of results or appointments. With Epic My Chart, this has saved valuable resources as customers can now access their results on the app interface. This is very smooth and effective. We can now send direct marketing to them and generally keep them well informed.

Liferay Portal is a framework which comes with a fine grained security/permission model, (Web) Content Management, Authentication and Authorization, outbox portlets with different features to manage content or users. So if any business application has below questions then I can recommend not to use Liferay as a platform.

• Application is big but not content or user driven.
• Application with few static contents.
• Application with batch transactions(DB) i.e. insert , update db records in batch.
• Application with ERP capabilities.
• Application with Big Data support.

• Collecting payments for bills
• Providing patient data for analysis
• Continuous updates of their UI
• Integrating different tools like virtual visits, SmartExam

• Slow communication form for private messaging, could add a live chat feature option.
• Better organization to have my chart of multiple companies flow seamlessly on the patient/individual side. A lot of times they have to create multiple accounts, one person provider.
• Being able to use the app outside of the US allows more access and freedom-range for those that travel or work internationally.

We are currently using Liferay Portal and plan to keep using it.

More market share, so people are more used to Epic MyChart.

Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP) feels more professional than other similar products I tried or used. With this, I mainly mean the look or aspect when you are editing, setting or configuring anything in the platform, wether you are setting users, roles, creating new pages, adding components to them, or even configuring server or instance related configurations.

• It allows me to better decision about my health
• It allows me to show my medical records to friends and family that are in the medical field
• Makes it easy to have one location for all medical records
