Considered Both Products
Epicor Propello
Chose Epicor Propello
Lightspeed had consistent issues with the software being down and little to no support. It also didn't have easy functionality to receive orders via a mobile device. Epicor Propello's team is very receptive to feedback and has made changes we suggested.
Chose Epicor Propello
Epicor Propello is much better with offline capabilities and much better pos, I feel.
Chose Epicor Propello
Clover is a nice system for a small one or two location enterprise, but with Epicor it is full service and the credit card processing fees are much more affordable as well.

Epicor Propello is incredibly user friendly from both a front-end user and a back-end user. Cashiers have an ease in learning the software and everything they need is on the screen in front of them. This means that even if they were to forget how something works, it is present on the screen if they look for it. Back end is easy to work with also. We have slowly progressed to using the different features this offers including tracking and maintaining supplies, new goods and donations. They are straight forward on how to use, and the support team has always been there for us when we have had any questions. They are rolling out a BETA this mid-year to allow companies to build out their own data-based reporting platform that I am really looking forward too.

Cons
  • Running reports: Scope is very, very limited and not overly relevant to my industry (retail: pet store)
  • Brand Name is largely an after thought (not even a search filter), but in retail settings Brand is a very important aspect.
  • Inside support team isn't as educated on Epicor Propello as they are other Epicor software which can cause delays in translating issues.

Usability
Epicor is very easy to use from the front end to the back end. Leadership has seen increased production from themselves due to cashiers being able to pick up on the POS a lot quicker than previous software. This leads to less frustrated cashiers and more product being able to make it to the floor. Back end usability is also easy. After the initial training everything is laid out easily for you to find and pick up on. Mistakes are easily corrected and fixed. If there are any questions the support team is always there to answer questions or have a remote call to help you through.
