The sales system (Black Bird) is amazing, but if you're looking for a service scheduling solution, keep moving, this is not helpful. Their support doesn't even know what their program can do, online scheduling for guests is AWFUL, and the list goes on and on. Our business didn't even keep it a year because it was that frustrating for our scheduling team, for guests booking online, and ESPECIALLY for our service advisers and service managers.

Honestly, there is very little that I could ask for that this program does not already offer when it comes to maintaining a proper stock of vehicles, and ensuring that the vehicle is competitively priced when compared to similar vehicles at other local dealerships.

  • Gives a solid base of comparison as to the pricing of inventory in the area vs. the potential vehicle you are looking at purchasing or selling.
  • Stores pictures, car fax, like comparisons, and lead info on every unit
  • Gives numerous different ways at analyzing stock units.

Cons
Solera, Inc
  • The service scheduler is mediocre at best. It offers very little control over what's coming in and is extremely clunky.
  • Adding a new user is a terrible experience for service. They need to be added to the BlackBird side, then to the scheduler as an adviser, then given permissions as a user, then given override permissions. It's way too complicated.
  • Their support team knew less about their scheduler than I did. I was almost training them within a week.

  • Some of the icons are a little esoteric and hard to understand intuitively.
  • It would be nice if it were able to have preset pricing movements based on the age of unit, kind of like a stop-loss setup.
  • Can be cumbersome to access some programs, e.g. Carfax required 4-5 steps to access.

I have had very little need for customer support on this particular part of the X time suite, but I have dealt with them to a great extent within the fixed operations side of the dealership and they are always extremely responsive, incredibly helpful and are always there for you when needed. A great asset to their company.

Alternatives Considered
Solera, Inc
We were using CDK CRM for the sales side of things, which was greatly outdated and DealerSocket absolutely blew it out of the water. However, we were using Xtime for service prior to the switch and after just 10 months, we are back to our original system. We wanted to integrate both sales and service within the same system, which is why we went with DealerSocket, but it's not worth all the trouble it brings.

This is really the only product I seriously looked at in this segment. It does literally everything I want, it excludes nothing, with nothing there that is not needed. Every feature is great, it works together with the other Xtime products to cover basically every need within an automotive dealership world.

  • Has increased ROI by enabling better pricing of vehicles, keeps in line with other dealers without underselling.
  • By carefully tracking aged inventory and enabling alerts at set age points, it has positively impacted gross by ensuring inventory turnover.
  • Other than the cost of the program itself, no negative issues with ROI.
