Instructure Mastery vs. Mentimeter

I love that MasteryConnect already has hundreds of standards built-in, like the ACT readiness and socioemotional learning standards my after-school program uses. I think MasteryConnect would be harder to implement for an educational institution using learning standards not already in MasteryConnect. Also, MasteryConnect does not function as a grade book for someone looking for that kind of solution.

Mentimeter is very useful for continuous engagements and follow ups during webinars, seminars, team meetings, online classes and surveys. Even during offfline conferences it could be well suited for increasing the interactivity. However, it could be less effective when the audience size is too small like a group meeting or video conferencing with friends and family

• Learning standards are already included in the software.
• Allows educators to track students who are near-mastery and at-mastery
• Color-coding system is easy to understand.

• It was very easy to use.
• It provides an interactive way to engage the audience.
• The poll can be customized to have all sorts of graphics to cater to a specific, targeted audience.

• I don't like that we have to make separate trackers for each sub-strand of math on the ACT.
• Sometimes it is difficult to find the assessments I am trying to score within trackers.
• I wish I had more support on how to use the data in MasteryConnect.

• I think more brand related customisation option could be helpful
• Reporting is basic , detailed analysis is missing
• Integration options are less, could be made more compatible with a lot of leading tools

The user interface is really simple to get started with, anyone can start using it. The simplicity might somewhat limit the set of features, but there are some advanced features hidden deeper down in the user interface that you can find once you're up and running and want to start improving your presentations

On-boarding was fine and sufficient, but we haven't really heard from MasteryConnect since then. I haven't reached out to them, either, though.

MasteryConnect is a more affordable option for our medium-sized nonprofit. MasteryConnect fits our needs without being "too much" software. Illuminate and PowerSchool are more built for large school systems while we are a standalone organization with only about 250 students.

The other tool used in our company for live poll is Zoom because of its direct compatibility with Zoom calls. Mentimeter is more interactive in terms of poll questions and its biggest advantage is wordcloud. However, it being an an external tool for a conference app, it is sometimes less preferred.

• MasteryConnect has allowed our organization to track student learning data weekly for the first time.
• We spend less than 10 minutes per week inputting student achievement data.
• We are able to more quickly decide which skills to reteach because of MasteryConnect.

• People have to be more alert during presentations because it asks people to participate.
• We actually get good feedback rather then if we did a presentation without Mentimeter.
