MapInfo Pro vs. TransUnion TruValidate

MapInfo Pro is great for creating and editing spatial data and creating both simple and complex maps. I find it easy to locate tools now that the software has transitioned to a ribbon based toolbar. I also love that you can expand on functionality in MapInfo by adding third party tools as well.

Neustar IP Intelligence is quick to deploy using their REST API, the data is automatically updated against one of the most robust datasets available on the market. It is well suited for developers trying to integrate with an out-of-the-box solution to lookup geolocation of website visitors in real time, and possibly build alerts or 2F-Authentication mechanisms based on suspicious activity.

• Helps detect fraud if a user has signed in from California only, then attempts to login from another country are made.
• Increase sales conversions by understanding geolocation of website visitors
• If your datacenters are georedundant, allows engineers to see where majority of traffic is generated and load balance accordingly.

• The 3D capability in Datamine is a little outdated and hard to use

The tool is reliable for geographic and spatial analysis .It provide strong capability in data visualisation and regional planning. User interface is not very intuitive and needs improvement . Performance wise slow for handling large data . Overall it is highly usable for experienced professionals but on serious note end users experience needs improvement.

MapInfo Pro customer support has always been quick and very helpful with any issues I have had with the software. They usually get back to you about your enquiry within 24 hours and they also tend to follow up to make sure your issue was resolved. I find it refreshing to be able to contact their experts quickly and easily.

I find ArcGIS more comprehensive but with a more confusing interface; however this may be because I learned MapInfo first. Surfer and Global Mapper do more specific things better; but MapInfo is a good overall product for sophisticated GIS

Google has an open source version of this, but its updates are based on the user community. Since Neustar's IP Intelligence is a paid solution, the updates are regular, the interface is streamlined with a REST API, and there is a help desk you can consult for onboarding and questions if there are issues.
