Chose MemberVault
Both Teachable and Kajabi are much higher priced. I feel like the look of Teachable is no better than MemberVault, and so I wouldn't want to pay more for that platform. Kajabi is much more aesthetically pleasing in how it looks and all you can do, but the price is at least 3-4 …

TeamUp is more user-friendly overall than Basecamp and more affordable. It has just the right features to stay organized and on top of things without complicated features that can overwhelm an employee.
Chose TeamUp by DaySmart
We selected TeamUp in 2013 because it had more features that we needed compared to the other options available at the time. There are probably lots of other options on the market now and we may switch at some point, but it is easiest for our customers now to continue with what …

I recommend it for those who are maybe 1-2 employees in their business--in other words, people just starting online with their business. It's priced right, so you can still make money with few sales. Plus, the ongoing support really helps you understand how to navigate the platform. It probably wouldn't be as great for someone who has thousands of people taking a course or someone who can afford a platform like Kajabi, where you can have everything right there. Because it doesn't host everything you need, it is for the frugally minded or smaller clientele biz owner.

It's great for regular, recurring signups, which would be ideal for a gym or similar organization that holds classes that customers need to sign up for. For our weekly Berkeley swims, it's perfect. Customers can pay per class, buy a "10 swim pack," or buy an annual pass. They can set it to automatically register for a certain class that happens every week, or they can just sign up individually. We set the coach for each session, which allows our staff the functionality they need, and allows customers to see who from our staff will be there. We also host large events that often have 100+ participants, including the Alcatraz Swim. If we were just doing these events we would probably be looking for another registration program that people are more familiar with. However, using TeamUp for both has worked fine.

Cons
  • I do wish you could host video right on the platform. You can't now but have to use other video sites.
  • I wish you could tailor the domain to reflect back to a page on your website.
  • I like the marketplace page but wish you could design it a little bit differently.
  • It's hard for people to cancel a subscription on their own.

Both Teachable and Kajabi are much higher priced. I feel like the look of Teachable is no better than MemberVault, and so I wouldn't want to pay more for that platform. Kajabi is much more aesthetically pleasing in how it looks and all you can do, but the price is at least 3-4 times more per month. I also wanted a platform that would let me have few people, and they let me start on a free plan initially. The others did not.

Return on Investment
  • Since starting with MemberVault 4 years ago, I went from 0 customers to 850 clients, with about 220 paying customers.
  • I've grown my mailing list by about 1000 by using this platform.
  • I wish they worked with all email providers because I have to pay more for Zapier. This hurts my sales profit.
  • Their plan to grandfather us into the price we originally paid helps me save money each year as I add more products.

  • Saved time which means saved money!
  • More time to focus on important projects and less on logistical issues.
