Process XE vs. SAP Digital Manufacturing

Process XE is user-friendly for entry level person as it is having section lock feature to minimize the operator error. Most useful benifit is paper minimize and it's archival. Process XE less appropriate when un availability due to unavailability of the server as it's cloud software. Also re entry multiple times when same equipment is used at multiple places in batch record as it shall be auto fetched.

SAP Digital Manufacturing is well suited to integrate SAP S/4 with the shop floor systems for shop floor control. It shines on automatic data collection, automated down time collection, embedded SAP Analytics Cloud, Inventory integration, Interactive Production Operator Dashboards, Process Monitoring, Production Process Designs etc.

• Sync with automated machine to fetch Data
• Automated entry in logbook of equipment
• Login with fingerprint

• Edge component - this needs to be improved to provide a seamless connection.
• The inbuilt functionalities like in ME instead of building separate production process.
• The EDHR reports needs to be similar in SAP ME.
• Configurable OEE reports and history reports delivered out of the box.
• Integrated with non - SAP ERP.

SAP Digital Manufacturing is a very well thought and engineered solution that does really well in trying to map most manufacturing use cases and makes it possible to manufacturers to avoid expensive and complex custom solutions and instead implementing fit to standard solutions that needs less maintenance and are less subjected to issues

Easy documentation and support during the development was better with Process XE compare to former. Also prompt response and easy meeting in person as it is nearby in same location. Cost effective is also played important role.

The SAP Digital Manufacturing cost of operation is much lower, compare to other competitors like that of salesforce and to top it off since has been in the business of digital manufacturing for quite some time, it is more trustworthy.

• Huge Paper saving leads to Capex saving
• Minimize entry error as field is applied with condition
• Auto fetching to be implemented which is needed

• As it is cloud based product, quarterly upgrades impacts the production and needs effort and resources for testing
• Product is not fully matured. It still has bugs
