TrustArc vs. Zscaler Data Security

TrustArc is well suited for a small-to-medium sized digital organization that is concerned about its ability to fulfill data privacy requirements. TrustArc offers an API integration to allow users to handle a larger volume of requests, but I don't have personal experience with this feature. It is a requirement that a cross-functional data privacy team be established in your organization to get the most use out of this product.

For a large company with lots of data it is a fantastic solution and much needed. This is probably not suited for very small organizations as it might be overkill. Organizations with lots of sensitive data such as PII, federal agencies or health care will greatly benefit from this product.

• Integrated process flow - all communication back to data subject is handled through TrustArc

• If the policy is set correctly, it identifies DLP (Data Loss Prevention).
• Scanning zip files to find executables works really well.

• Notification schemes - allowing different access levels to be notified when certain processes occur
• Two-factor authentication upon login is a desirable feature not implemented
• Standardized reporting on home dashboard

• The DLP dictionary functions need to be expanded upon, such as matching all regex patterns with any phrases and vice versa. The only way to do this today is to create two dictionaries and then use an engine to combine them; however, this approach loses the ability to utilize proximity.
• Regex does not support lookaheads.

No matter whether the data resides at your on-prem, cloud, or any workload or at the data center, Zscaler has a foolproof mechanism to protect it at any cost with zero tolerance. Also, Zscaler Data Protection has a perfect UI for deploying, managing, and maintaining our different kinds of environments. (e.g., On-Prem or Hybrid).

OneTrust offers a similar product offering to TrustArc. Our organization had a legacy relationship with TrustArc with respect to its online cookie management preference solution. OneTrust product offerings do provide much of the same functionality as TrustArc and is worthy of consideration if you are evaluating vendors in this space.

Zscaler Data protection must be used in conjunction with other Zscaler tools where the others are stand alone. It is mainly the cost that drove us to look at Zscaler's product again, although, we do still use Proof point for DLP and email security

• Flexible offering allows for control of both digital (cookie) and database record requests
• Sunk cost - organization requires this type of program, TrustArc is an established vendor in this space
