This has been a go-to software for process design capabilities and has been the number one choice for clients. The kind of depth it brings to the table is amazing. The way it stores process models and follows global standards are amazing. The ease, you play with the tool is quite good. It has the capacity to produce custom reports based on client needs, and you can customize the scripts on the tool and select the right parameters/headers and the right level of details.

Market leading process modeling tool

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It is used for process modeling and analysis on our client side. ARIS had been deployed in 150+ engagements and is also used for documentation of internal compliance processes.

Pros

  • Queries and adhoc analysis
  • Out of the box and custom reports
  • Table based modeling
  • Simulation
  • collaboration feature

Cons

  • Very high priced tool
  • Ability to import Visio should be improved
  • Automatic layout should be improved

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited for enterprise architecture modeling where the intent to document elements beyond processes as well, such as risks and controls, KPIs, systems, org charts, etc. It also has the excellent capability of creating custom reports, hence if looking for various views right from summary to detailed, this is a great tool. It is less appropriate for implementing the processes as it is not very strong in BPMN.

Great tool for process modeling and analyis

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

ARIS is being used in our company as a process modeling and analysis tool while working on process improvement/ transformation engagements. We use this tool to document as-is and to-be processes of our clients to help in their transformation journey. It is also used to create and publish industry process frameworks on a central platform which can be used across our company by practitioners as an enabler for their projects.

Pros

  • Query feature is excellent to extract information in a specific manner.
  • Ability to create custom reports.
  • Collaboration feature is very good.
  • Semantic checks to check validation errors.
  • cloud based central repository.

Cons

  • Better Visio import.
  • Ability to export to Visio and PPT.
  • Very high priced hence limits its usage across our clients.

Likelihood to Recommend

ARIS is well suited when we want to understand the interrelationship between different processes and their decencies on systems etc. It allows to create an integrated view with easy navigation from one process to another and allows to add information like metrics, risks, cycle time, FTE, etc. Overall, it is a great tool for modeling and analysis.

Though it offers BPMN notation, it has limited compatibility with some other tools, hence if the objective is to implement these processes using tools like PEGA then is it not suitable. Further, it is very high priced, so for basic modeling, it might give the right ROI.

Process Mapping/Documentation Platform with Good Features and Ease of Use

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It was used to lead the digital transformation of our company, selected and disseminated by digital transformation directorate. The idea was, in our 70 years of organization, almost all processes were knowledge-based, and they were transferred from senior engineer to junior engineer in an oral and experimental way as juniors learned how to carry out business processes they work. The issue was they were dependent on people and were not written or kept in a process map so that anyone could read it. In order to document all of our company's processes and be able to see the ones open to improvement and document them, we ran a program to teach ARIS, disseminate ARIS and make people document all their processes.

Pros

  • Process documentation
  • Process mapping

Cons

  • Installation of ARIS to users
  • Management of user/architect accounts

Likelihood to Recommend

In case you have a LOT of processes and know-how of these processes are not documented, thus making your company depend on specific people, ARIS is a good tool to document processes that manage complex relationships between functions, people, IT systems, input and output documents, and scenarios. It is also good for reporting, for example, once you complete documenting all your processes, you can simply get a response to "in what processes is Excel used?" because ARIS will give you just that, and is capable of more.

  • Continuously evolving product based on upcoming and current industry trends
