Articulate Rise is being used as part of the Articulate 360 suite of eLearning design software/services. Our Learning and Development department is using Rise for primarily mobile-facing tutorials. However, we have used it for situations where traditional eLearning does not work: virtual guides, online registration information, event pages, etc. Rise provides our developers with a rapid design solution that is always mobile compatible and works both in and out of our LMS.
  • Mobile compatibility
  • Rapid eLearning design
  • Online collaboration
  • HTML or custom design support within pages
  • Custom page layouts
  • Branding options
Articulate Rise is suited well for anyone that creates eLearning. Even if you use Storyline or Captivate, Rise gives you another option in your toolbox. Rise works particularly well for new or occasional designers, as it has a very easy-to-learn and intuitive user experience. Rise was built for mobile eLearning, so it works on any device.
  • Has made the development of truly mobile eLearning possible
  • Saves our developers time with rapid design tools
  • Allows for the development of eLearning on any computer with a modern browser
  • Allows for collaboration across our team without files sharing
Articulate Rise is fundamentally different from Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate. Although many of the same objectives can be completed using all of them, Rise is browser-based for development and is focused on mobile support from the start. Storyline and Captivate are more robust in their options, but are also more complicated and do not work with every device. Rise compliments the use of one of those platforms.

Articulate Rise is a wonderful product to easily transition content you might have had in Word or PowerPoint into a real online module with interactions. Over the last year, we have been generating more and more content throughout our organization using Articulate Rise. The users like the "book" feel of it and the developers like how easy it is to work in and add images and interactions. All of our software-created training has utilized Articulate Rise since we started using it.
  • Easy to use
  • Simple UI
  • Quick to learn
  • Always marks complete in LMS
  • I think it struggles a little being screen-reader friendly
  • Image sizes are challenging sometimes to get right
  • Storyline blocks mean you need to make sure you don't delete them from Articulate Rise
I recommend it to all of the new training groups that are looking to start down the online module path since it is quick to learn and easy to edit.
  • We have been able to share the work of content creation across the organization
  • We are creating content with a consistent user experience
  • Faster to develop

We have utilized Articulate Rise and the Articulate 360 suite of services for a number of years, primarily in our programming department where we utilize it to build dynamic online content that is SCORM-compliant...for fully asynchronous, hybrid, and in-person learning settings. We have used it regularly to design curricula that serve learners of all ages, ranging from as young as middle school to adults in business settings. It allows us not only to design our own content but also to help our clients design their own curriculum and take ownership of the process themselves once they understand the features and benefits.
  • Easy-to-use curriculum design tools and features
  • SCORM-compliant design tools make it easy to host in multiple content management systems in use across multiple industries
  • User-friendly but also provides enough bells and whistles for those who want to go a bit deeper with their design work
  • Limitations when it comes to mobile content and mobile-friendly design
  • Some of the types of content that can be added to courses can be greatly improved when it comes to types of activities, formats for content, more interactive designs
  • Some solid templates available but their need to be more robust templates that are more engaging and less one-dimensional for modern online learners
We have utilized Articulate Rise for our primary curriculum design platform for multiple years. Although it can look pricey compared with other free options, they do a great job of supporting nonprofit use and more cost-effective. By doing so, they continue to be the best in the industry when it comes to value relative to cost with a nice suite of content creation tools that can easily create an out-of-the-box online curriculum while still being easy to navigate for traditional teachers who may be extremely knowledgeable about curriculum development but not tech-savvy. The product could benefit from more content formats and activity types (doesn't seem to have been updated in years) and more authority and control over color/visual palettes and style.
  • Value-add of being able to design curriculum for other organizations and schools
  • Ability to easily create content for web-based use without having to worry about individual learning gains/student tracking
  • No built-in tracking/student measurement features require accompanying CMS/LMS if wish to understand student gains and evaluate progress.
We chose Articulate Rise because it was the best balance of offering multiple design tools and embeddable content without being obnoxiously priced. Because the course design also ensures SCORM-compliance, whatever we create can easily be embedded in learning management systems later on. We looked at some more robust platforms but the type of tools they offered required a level of coding and technical expertise that would have left those same tools unused by staff. Meanwhile, many free services have some features but make it hard to create a truly cohesive, unified course experience (as opposed to disjointed activities and readings that essentially just get "collated" online). In this case, you really can build a great, linear, holistic course without spending an arm and a leg.
