We use Avatier Identity Anywhere the Self Service Password Reset solution to empower users to administer their accounts and deflect calls from the help desk. We support over 30,000 users and have reduced the number of accounts unlock/password related calls to agents by 80%.

  • Partner with us when we need/request an enhancements
  • Has the ability out of the box to connect to various applications to help synchronize passwords
  • Offer options for biometric and alternative methods to assist users to manage account

Cons

  • Ability to create ad hoc reports in the app
  • Use of biometrics is one that has been improved recently that was not great
  • Managing connector settings in bulk can be tedious

IT modernizes our access management process for our organization. We moved out of a home grown solution that was 20 years old and was extremely limited on options for automation for our future growth

Ease of use and a very customer focused catalog process. Would like service now functionality implemented with the tool so teams can user 1 work tool to work from. The access governance process is very well designed and extremely useful for our organization to be able to identify users that have the inappropriate access levels for their current roles

We use it to reset passwords, terminate user accounts, grant VPN access and grant shared drive access.

All users use it to reset their passwords.

It allows our users to reset their password on their own. It also allows them to request access on their own without having to contact our Help desk.

Cons

  • It would be easier for users to request access to VPN and shared drives in fewer steps.
  • It would be nice if we could reset passwords, request access and terminate accounts on one website.
  • It would be nice if users could see the Cart button easier to submit their request.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Avatier is being used across multiple divisions within our organization. It helps streamline the process of unlocking or resetting a domain account password. This has significantly decreased call volume to the Service Desk and improved the end-user experience. It is also very secure with multi-factor authentication embedded. I recently worked with Avatier to build custom packages for the PC and Mac platforms to have our website available at the login window so users can unlock themselves from their work laptop if they forget the website address to unlock from a smartphone.

Pros

  • It greatly improves end-user self serviceability.
  • Avatier integrates with multiple AD domains if you are part of a larger organization that is blended.
  • Custom packages with your company logo for the login window app make for a very professional touch for a better end-user experience.

Cons

  • The only issue I have come across is that if a user begins to reset their password, but doesn't remember all of their security questions, sometimes the tool triggers a reset even if they didn't successfully reset themselves. This becomes a problem in an environment that has password complexity requirements, such as not being able to change your password again within a 24 hour period.

Likelihood to Recommend

Avatier is very well suited for large organizations that struggle with Service Desk getting swamped with password resets or unlocks. Giving end users the power to self service their issues is well worth the investment. In my environment, I even created Slackbot responses that triggered the Avatier site when a user said "reset password" or "locked out."

Avatier Identity Management Software Suite is being used across the whole company for password management and terminations. We also have all temporary associates and third party consultants using it as well.

Pros

  • Allows us to set users accounts to termination at any given time.
  • Allows us to let end users manage their own account with little work for our help desk team.

Cons

  • Added types of connections such as different types of LDAP.
  • Different methods of communication when a new version changes.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is well suited for your businesses core environment areas for day to day business. On the other side, being in a retail company we feel it's less appropriate for use in our PCI environment for assisting in managing end users' authentication.
