Office renovation project with AVI SPL.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We hired AVI SPL to provide comprehensive Audiovisual solutions for our renovated office space (meeting rooms, huddle rooms) and technology simulation lab. The renovated space allows our organization to work more efficiently, collaborate easily, and rapidly prototype new clinical technologies before deploying them in a clinical environment in front of patients.

Pros

  • Quality of their proposal is very high.
  • Communication leading up to their deployment was good.
  • Project management during the course of the implementation.

Cons

  • Timeliness of communications, when issues arise and need review.
  • Difficulty in reaching contacts by phone/email.
  • Technical competency of installation staff.

Likelihood to Recommend

AVI-SPL is well suited for projects where comprehensive audio visual solutions are needed. They have engineering and design expertise to ensure the right solution is provided. Their attention to detail is very good. AVI-SPL may be less appropriate to hire when the scope of the project is loosely defined and/or expected to undergo changes during the course of the project.

Great company to integrate any AV equipment

AVI-SPL has been a great integration partner. We were able to leverage their skill set and installation services to design, install, and deploy a new next generation Bells and PA system across three of our campuses. I had expected some issues with communication or installations, but everything has gone in very smoothly and to our specification. Anything they are involved with they treat as if it were their own property. I am very satisfied with their services and they have delivered tremendous functionality to our aging schools.

  • More in house technicians (Though technicians have been great)
  • For offices closer to us (hasn't really been an issue though)
  • I can't think of many negatives. They are great partners.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you are deploying any AV project, use this company. They do both interior and exterior and their design team has been the most knowledgeable that I have ever worked with. Utilize their expertise for PA, distributed audio, MPR AV/Extron systems, etc. I was very pleasantly surprised with all aspects of what they do.

AVI-SPL has been our go-to source for the presentation and sound technology at our 300-member church in Longboat Key. Our tech leadership team has found their experts to be highly knowledgeable about sound and image technology and what best fits not only our physical space but also our budget and timeline. We have made several major upgrade purchases and found them not only responsive but cost-competitive with discount houses and all online alternatives. Best advice, customized to our needs without overpaying.

Pros

  • Analyzed our physical soundstage from architect drawings and made recommendations tailored to our space.
  • Fast email response and call-backs from their consultants - we never had to wait. They get back before the day ends.
  • They remember us as a valued client, even if months go by between purchases. We never have to be reintroduced.
  • Invoicing is clear and concise with no mystery charges - always matches the quotes.

Cons

  • Hard to fault them - our experience has always been great.
  • Online invoicing requires a credit card, but our church does not have one, so the option to send a check-in would be nice.

Likelihood to Recommend

Often with non-profits, the buyer side lacks technical expertise and has to rely on vendors like AVI-SPL. They are honest and not trying to upsell you into equipment that is more than you need or more expensive. They can advise on specific cabling scenarios and complex mounting to achieve the best result.

We have been using AVI-SPL for over 10 years now for Onsite Managed Services and integration projects.

Pros

  • Cost of projects are competitive

Cons

  • Projects never complete on time
  • Constant follow-up from customer needed on action items
  • They don't come to you, customer has to go to them for advice/recommendations

We use AVI-SPL as one of our main suppliers for all of our AV equipment across all projects large and small. They are incredibly fast to respond and assist us with any questions we have about products. They have been incredibly fast to fix any issues with order or mistakes on our end or theirs and have always taken care of us as customers.

Pros

  • Very fast to respond to RFQs
  • Incredibly competitive on pricing.
  • Knowledgeable if I have questions on something I am not sure exists, always finds an answer quickly or gets me in contact with someone how is very knowledgeable.

Cons

  • Understanding where things can be between our POs and AVI-SPL's PO to the manufacturer can be messy at times
  • It is hard to understand which items will be very fast to get a quote or will take longer.
  • Sometimes they don't have access to certain brands or for some reason do not get specialized pricing from certain vendors so they cannot be competitive.

In our use case AVI-SPL is great because they have so many varied manufacturers they sell and they are able to use them as a one stop shop for all of our needs/ We have occasionally had them bid out contract installation jobs but since our organization typically just bids the labor it has not usually worked out.

We have worked with AVI-SPL for our high school theatre audio system upgrade. The upgrade was included removal of existing messy infrastructure, install new infrastructure and raceway as needed, replacement of wall plates and in/out interfaces, communication line and speakers, removal of old equipment and rearrange the rack configuration and orientation, install new console and other miscellaneous works as needed.

We have worked with AVI-SPL on one of our high school theatre audio system upgrade. Works included various scope from the demo of existing to completely functional new system. At the planning stage, it was a bit challenging to get the fast responses and proper recommendations or suggestions. However as they spend sometime to understand the needs and existing/ current conditions, things changed.

We use AVI-SPL to install, configure, and support our conference room technology. We have a number of robust conference rooms with varying tech built on a Crestron backend. AVI-SPL has helped us both install new and refresh existing tech over the past 7 plus years. They worked with us to design a large 4 room modular conference center that we can expand and contract as needed for the meeting size. We have expanded on the space over the years to include ceiling microphones, tracking cameras, and various other custom programming changes.

Pros

  • Execution of the project is always consistent. Its done timely and to spec.
  • Support is prompt and available. During COVID lead times were longer but since then the resources for onsite support have been excellent.
  • They are very comfortable with emerging tech. They also support a range of established technologies versus focusing on one domain.

Cons

  • Turnaround time on quoting could be improved.
  • Install times are generally booked out a bit. I know that there is a balance between demand and onhand resources.
  • Pricing. They are by far one of the most expensive. I constantly need to look for ways to trim back costs because there is quite a lot baked into the quote in terms of maintenance and it feels like a cash grab in the end. I've gotten quotes elsewhere due to some of the numbers I've received and they all have come well under AVI-SPL's. Here's the list of line items from what I've seen from my last quote and this is from one conference room. Equipment Total, Installation Materials, Professional Services, Direct Costs, General and Administrative, Room Support and Maintenance, Device Maintenance. This feels egregious.

Likelihood to Recommend

AVI-SPL will deliver on its promises. That has always been a constant theme for them. They have a knowledgeable team both in sales and support. Sales responses times are decent, support is much better though. Their service comes at a premium. If it's a more complicated environment, then they are your best bet for overall satisfaction.

While the nuance of complex solution details shared as part of scoping document is appreciated, it is disappointing to see the core part of the requirement missed resulting in leadership escalation

the are a AV integrator for us, we had several rooms that need new cabling and equipment to be installed. there were classrooms lecture halls and our auditorium needed complete replacement to upgrade for AV to become compliant with our institutional needs. the team had to replace all cables in the walls and ceilings to accomplish this.

  • bring enough staff to accomplish the task in a timely manner
  • work well with team our to come up with a design that meets our needs
  • communication down the line as to what will be accomplished each day
  • clean up after themselves no reminders to run a tidy project

Cons

  • from the quote stage to actual install could be quicker
  • constancy from the team with scheduling
  • over- communication on the tasks to be preformed is preferred

audio visual install for higher education seems to be there sweet spot, they understand budget constraints and work well to accommodate the design to accomplish the desired results. they use the highest quality materials and there install team is very knowledgeable on how to get the project to the finish line when issues arise.
