Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We needed a product that would allow us to spend less time on documentation and free up administrators for more technical work. We use ClickLearn to document every day tasks in Dynamics 365 and Outlook when using the Dynamics for Outlook app. This includes How to and information training videos.

Pros

  • Easy creation of videos based on mouse clicks
  • Editing documentation
  • Organization and structure of recordings

Cons

  • Could use more options for how the portal looks and is organized

Likelihood to Recommend

Well Suited: ClickLearn is extremely useful for a quick video to show someone how to do something and having to do few changes before publishing it.
Less Appropriate: Automated testing can be difficult to setup

Easily on-board new users and supplement existing users with learning material

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

At PCL, we use ClickLearn to teach users how to perform various tasks in our project management system. Normally, these tasks would require us to host training sessions with our users - but, ClickLearn helps relieve our schedules by having this training material stored in one central location.

Pros

  • Creating easy-to-follow work instructions.
  • Provides different methods of delivery (text, video, try-me).

Cons

  • Replaying recordings can be finicky.
  • Freezes/crashes periodically.

Likelihood to Recommend

ClickLearn is well suited for training new users who are just starting out on a system. Where it may be slightly less suitable, is when your system is as extensive as ours. As a new user, having hundreds of recordings to go through could be overwhelming.

When you need help to create manuals without "print screen-ing"

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

In our company, ClickLearn is used to make instruction guides for how to use our D365 CE. We have sections for F&Q, General instructions, and then specified guides for different business segments. It is in use in over 30 countries to help salespersons to tackle problems when another support is not available.

Pros

  • Generate manuals.
  • Pronounces text.

Cons

  • Renaming records, books, shelves.
  • Adding new steps.
  • Recognizing fields when recording from web browser.

Likelihood to Recommend

Even though ClickLearn is quite a handy tool, it takes time to create new records, or more like modifying those to be suitable for use. Also, when I have had questions about ClickLearn and considering that the software is for generating for example manuals, I have struggled with finding solutions to cases from the ClickLearn site. For example how to enable/disable Assistant -functionality. Had two private sessions, with two different support persons, getting two different ways to do things. Not good.
