Using the CodeSignal platforms allows us to make data-driven technical decisions about candidates' experience levels today and gives us insight into how they learn while concentrating on a great candidate experience. The platform streamlines the front end of the pipeline with assessments that give us a baseline on experience levels, saving time for recruiting.
Pros
Skill level.
Professional look.
Upskilling current engineers.
Cons
Better integration with ATS.
Likelihood to Recommend
For assessing technical skill levels. Coding is less appropriate outside of technical engineering.
CodeSignal has been an excellent resource for screening technical candidates throughout our recruitment process. They understand how to evaluate technical skills by offering standardized tests while allowing you to create and customize your assessments.
Pros
Coding Evaluation.
Comprehensive Scoring.
Customizable Assessments.
Cons
Live coding assessments could offer more templates for all common programming languages.
Likelihood to Recommend
CodeSignal is best suited for evaluating talent requiring coding and programming language knowledge in their day-to-day positions. The same goes for candidates who work heavily with data and architecture. The platform is not as applicable to candidates in the product and cybersecurity space.
We use CodeSignal to conduct our entire slate of virtual technical interviews. The platform allows us to customize our engineering assessments fully and test candidates' skills across a variety of technical verticals. Ensured hiring of strong technical talent is critical to growing our organization and delivering new functionality. CodeSignal enables us to do just that, all while delivering an excellent candidate experience.
Pros
Flexibility - we can customize our assessments to our specific needs.
Usability - CodeSignal is very user friendly.
Cons
I'd love more reporting functionality within the testing platform.
Getting in-app recommendations on how my team can best conduct technical assessments would be great.
Likelihood to Recommend
I love CodeSignal. It allows Greenhouse to do exactly what we need to do, i.e., assess candidates' specific technical abilities in a virtual setting. This isn't easy, but CodeSignal makes the process as candidate—and user-friendly as possible while giving us all the tools/flexibility we need to tailor assessments to our needs.
Our team does a lot of hiring for IT and Software Development based roles. We use CodeSignal as one of the stages in our recruitment process to screen candidates for candidates who are proficient in specific coding skillsets. We then pass the results of these tests to hiring managers who can then decide who to move forward with to the next stage of interviews for the positions that are open.
Pros
Really simple to set up assessments. Tons of inbuilt tests.
Its easy to share the results of the assessments with stakeholders.
Integrates with our ATS.
Works great for high volume hiring challenges.
Cons
Would like the option to allow candidates to skip certain questions if required. Maybe its there and I couldnt find it.
Interface could be a little nicer, its pretty janky at the moment.
Likelihood to Recommend
If you hire for IT or Software development based roles, I can absolutely recommend this. It will improve the quality of candidates you are filtering through in your process and you will be able to add stakeholders early into the hiring process to make it more efficient. Pricing is very reasonable too so its not out of reach for even smaller organizations. Generally speaking though, if you dont hire in bulk for Software Developers etc, then maybe its not for you.
I use CodeSignal as an individual to practice algorithms and to stay updated on modern coding interview questions to see if I am still qualified to pass these interviews or if I need to go back and study. It can be used similar to Leetcode to get coding questions in various categories and get feeback on your responses.
Pros
Interview Practice
In-Demand Skills
Real world Practice
Cons
Variety in topics
Teaching problems instead of just testing
More Company specific questions based on industry
Likelihood to Recommend
If you are looking to interview for internships or full-time technical positions in the technology industry, then this is a great resource. You will need other supplemental resources to learn the concepts that you will be tested on, but it is a good way to get practice. And there is a good chance the company interviewing you may end up using this platform to test you

So CodeSignal has proved to be an excellent tool for testing potential candidates during the interview process. Traditionally, people would come to offices to give interviews but with more and more candidates and companies preferring online interviews, we have had a few instances where the leetcode question was given to a candidate and the candidate would copy paste the most voted answer if you are not looking at the candidate with full attention. CodeSignal helps prevents such instances and saves time
Pros
Capturing video recording of the candidate
Being able to capture hand or facial movements
No need to maintain and update interview questions
Cons
Have more realistic interview questions
The questions are at times tougher than normal standards
it has a complicated navigation window
Likelihood to Recommend
Well Suited
CodeSignal is very well suited for technical hiring as there is no need to maintain a list of interview questions or be actually present during the actual interview challenge. The platform handles both the challenges,. It provides a range of questions to choose from and automatically grades the candidates, providing them a score based on their performance. It then provides a detailed report on how well the candidate performed
Not well suited
CodeSignal is not well suited to learn new skills. If a candidate wants to upgrade himself then CodeSignal may not be the best platform. it does have a lot of coding problems like leetcode but no tutorials to actually learn a new skill
CodeSignal is used early on in the interview process to assess software engineers's technical acumen, algorithmic knowledge and overall fluency in a specific coding language. The candidates generally get sent 2 to 3 questions to complete with a specific amount of time. Any candidate with a good score gets to continue the process where they will be further assessed by engineers.
Pros
Testing the skills and knowledge of junior engineers
Lets reviewers see what the candidates wrote while the exercise was happening and provides an indication of the candidate's thought process
Cons
In my opinion, UI is really bad
Likelihood to Recommend
CodeSignal can be useful to help determine the knowledge of engineers on more theoretical topics.
In my experience, CodeSignal can be very useful for more junior roles, and in particular when you receive a lot of applications and you need to have more data points on candidates before deciding whether or not to move forward with more interviews

At Borderless we are hiring a world-class engineering team to build a global hiring and payments platform. As a startup without any dedicated recruiting personnel, CodeSignal is instrumental in allowing us to qualify and interview candidates.
We use CodeSignal for both screening applications at the beginning of the hiring process, as well as for live coding interviews in the final stages of the process. It is very convenient to have a bank of questions to draw from. We also use it to create custom tests and exercises.
The platform gives a great candidate experience in that the editor is easy to use. It is easy to define and run test cases. It is easy to share the editor and IDE between the candidate and the interviewer. We have received a lot of positive feedback from candidates on the interview experience.
Pros
Great candidate experience
Intuitive interface
Powerful options for asynchronous / take-home screening exercises
User friendly live coding / collaborative editing experience
Cons
Seeing or creating reports on tests and candidate submissions
Likelihood to Recommend
It provides a very good candidate experience for live coding interviews.
It provides an effective, low overhead screening solution for inbound applications.
It provides a bank of interview questions.
It allows a company to define custom interview questions and share them with candidates.
It allows easily reusable links to be shared for coding exercises.
CodeSignal was used to find suitable talent for software engineering positions.
Pros
Good UI
Relatively relevant questions to the job
Automated results
Cons
More IDE colors
Likelihood to Recommend
I think it's well suited for finding talent quickly since the questions asked are more akin to what one would be doing on the job and the automated evaluation. I really can't think of scenarios where this isn't appropriate at the moment.
I interviewed with many companies with CodeSignal. It was the best software I have used for conducting and participating in coding reviews. It’s intuitive and has a lot of great features, as well as maintains a clean interface. It gives a very good environment for coders of all skill levels.
Pros
Code syntax
Speed, no input lag
Reliable compiling
Multi tenant coding
Cons
More libraries
Updated frameworks
App context more visible
Likelihood to Recommend
If conducting interviews, CodeSignal is best in class and offers a full suite of modern, functional features to support developers and engineers of all experience levels. It allows quick editing and returns time to the interview by being dependable and efficient. I would use CodeSignal as the basis for all technical coding interviews as it allows reusability and standardizing across a big organization.
