COZYROC isn't the answer

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I purchased the $1.2k COZYROC subscription and I regret it, I also paid them an extra 2.7K to configure EDI XML files. I think they used to be a great company and have a great product, but the people who cared and knew what they were doing have long since departed. I believe my money was taken and in my experience, I was treated horribly at every step of the process and was given XML files that don't work or product valid EDI files. There aren't many games in town when it comes to SSIS extensions like this, but COZYROC isn't the answer, look elsewhere.

Cons

  • Customer Service

Likelihood to Recommend

It is my belief that it's not suitable for any situation; when the connector has an error you are just given a completely generic, non-specific error that doesn't help you determine what is wrong.

Cozyroc SSIS+ makes Microsoft SSIS a proper ETL tool

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

About a year ago we were faced with a need to change ETL tools. We had been using IBM tools for a few decades and our plan was now to move to Microsoft SSIS. The first looks of SSIS made us feel that the product was lacking basic ETL functionality that we were used to. A lot of this was due to us having most of our source/destination databases outside of SQL Server, mainly DB2. I felt that SSIS is not really a good choice when having a DB2 destination database but there were other factors supporting the selection of SSIS so we went on to look for solutions that would enable SSIS to work in our case. This is where we found COZYROC SSIS+ to be a big asset that effectively allowed us to use SSIS as a proper ETL tool even though our main target is DB2.

Pros

  • Database Destination Component.
  • Support.
  • Rest components.

Cons

  • Documentation.

Likelihood to Recommend

The single most important use case for us is the Database Destination component. Nearly all ETL data flows usually have some sort of insert / update / delete database operation at the end and with all the new functionality added to Database Destination during the past year we can now use this single component to do 99,5% of all our inserts / updates / deletes and most importantly merge operations. The same functionality can be achieved using only standard Microsoft SSIS components, but it can be complicated or very slow (one row at a time). If I want to insert new rows and update existing rows to the DB2 table and to do it fast. Microsoft SSIS does not really offer me any components for that. I can of course use SQL to create a temp table, move data there, create indexes, use SQL again to run the actual insert / update, clear the temp tables and finally run statistics but it requires a lot of SQL knowledge and will end up needing 6-8 steps. With COZYROC's Database Destination component it is just 1 step and it is easy and fast.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

[COZYROC is] used by the Data Engineering and Data Analytics department to connect to a customized Dynamics 365 instance for a differential ELT processing.

Pros

  • Integrates with Microsoft SSIS plug and play approach

Cons

  • Filtering / Parameter setting are not well explained i.e. needs to be documented.
  • Using Rest Source, it creates a new table for you with @Odata column. I would like an option to turn off.

[COZYROC is well suited for] ETL / ELT processing and migration projects[.]

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

COZYROC components are being used by our IT department, to build solutions that are used across the whole organization. They resolve the needs to do some tricky jobs on our SQLserver integration services ETL tasks, like ftp and sftp component, Microsoft sharepoint list connection and download; generally speaking we use these components where standard SSIS can't help.

Pros

  • sftp connection
  • Microsoft sharepoint list connection
  • Microsoft dynamic 365 connection

Cons

  • can speedup Microsoft dynamic crm connection
  • need to improve their support and customer care
  • would like to have some good and fast scd component

Likelihood to Recommend

it's ok to connect with other data source (like microsoft dynamics cloud or microsoft sharepoint lists) and good to use for ftp or sftp connection. it's great because there are really a lot of connectors (mongo db, google cloud, json, rest, salesforce and many many others) but i dont' reccomend it for using with lookup or sort operations

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

[COZYROC] is a helpful plugin and extension to our data integration projects across the entire data team. We count on its extensive functionalities to accomplish various data related projects. Heavily used components include but not [limited] to File Transfer task, OpenPGP task, EDI Source/Destination, REST Source/Destination, etc. The recent practice is to use REST Destination to post our structured data to vendor's API and get response back.

Pros

  • REST Components which allow users to communicate between SQL server and REST APIs
  • EDI Components
  • SFTP Components

Cons

  • More detailed documents/instructions/case studies/tutorial videos will be highly appreciated. It's very difficult to understand how some new components work without those helps.

Likelihood to Recommend

[COZYROC] is a powerful tool and [extends] what you are able to do when it comes to ETL. It allows you to accomplish a lot of things that are very common now, but very difficult to implement with the out of the box functionality of SSIS.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use COZYROC with Salesforce source task and connection, Sharepoint file transfer and connection tasks. They work fantastic. Above all, their helpdesk support responds at lightning speed. The dynamic query capability with the Salesforce source task is very helpful.

Pros

  • Dynamic SOQL is very advantageous with Salesforce source task.
  • Connecting to SharePoint is simple and seamless.
  • Script Component Plus is also a very good task that we can do a lot through, that what we can't do with Script Task.

Cons

  • Looking for Office 365 API connector and source task.
  • Looking for Share Connection with multifactor login.

Likelihood to Recommend

We are getting Salesforce data seamlessly with no troubles.

Experience with COZYROC and their support

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

COZYROC is being used as an addon of our ETL processes across our backend database platforms in one of our products. It helps us go beyond the limitations of original Microsoft SSIS tools so we are able to build a lot more dynamic processes and data with greater usability. They definitely enhance the SSIS a lot and have all the features we need at a relatively small cost.

They also provide good adaptability so we can easily add and remove their addons without going through a lengthy migration process as long as you have been using SSIS. They have good support that is responsive and fixes our issues quickly.

Pros

  • A large selections of destinations like Amazon S3 or Processed Excel output that help us better fulfill the need of our clients
  • Dynamic columns queries and customizable parallel processing for data flow tasks

Cons

  • S3 widget's wording is somehow confusing. I wish they would be more consistent with Amazon wording
  • More examples of complicated and combined usage on website

Likelihood to Recommend

When you are working in an SSIS environment and you are thinking of doing something the original tools from toolbox can't implement, definitely try out CozyRoc. It should be able to allow you to a lot of things that are pretty common but very difficult or impossible to implement with only original SSIS. They also keep up with the new tech stack like Amazon S3. Their widgets would also allow you to implement a more sophisticated process with greater performance.

COZYROC Relieves Some SSIS Pain

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

COZYROC is being used primarily for its data connections. We have needs around CRM, LDAP, and SFTP, which COZYROC helps to address.

Pros

  • Large number of data connectors
  • Some nice helper components

Cons

  • Smaller set of useful transform tasks than some competitors
  • Upgrade process could be smoother (though similar to others in this space)

Likelihood to Recommend

COZYROC is great if you have a number of sources or destinations where vanilla SSIS either does not provide connectors, they are difficult to work with, or they are not fully featured. SFTP is a prime example. Almost any web service is another.

It also includes some nice helper components, such as script task plus. This speeds up the development of script tasks by making the configuration easier.

That said, it is not a silver bullet for all your SSIS woes. I've found that none of the SSIS 3rd party components spans all my needs and generally end up running a couple of different ones to cover all the functionality required.
