What is CubeAPM?

CubeAPM is a full-stack observability platform built on OpenTelemetry that enables engineering teams to monitor services, infrastructure, logs, and metrics from a single pane of glass. Teams can self-host CubeAPM inside their own cloud or on-premises environment, or use it as a managed deployment. It delivers full-stack visibility with smart sampling, alerting, tracing, and unlimited data retention at a flat usage-based price of $0.15 per GB.

Many teams face a trade-off in observability. The vendor states that CubeAPM aims to remove such compromises:

  • Cloud SaaS (Datadog, New Relic): Easy to run, but send sensitive data outside a company's cloud and can fail residency or compliance checks.

  • Self-Hosted (ELK, LGTM): Keep data local, but require heavy ops overhead and lack enterprise-grade support.

  • CubeAPM: Self-hosted inside a VPC or on-prem → full data control. Managed like SaaS → no Day-2 burden. Unlimited retention + predictable, flat pricing.

Key Use Cases & Deployment

CubeAPM is deployed across microservices, monolithic applications, container clusters, and hybrid cloud environments. It supports instrumentation via OpenTelemetry SDKs and agents, and integrates with alerting systems, incident management tools, and data pipelines. Teams use it to reduce MTTD and MTTR, optimize resource usage, and consolidate multiple monitoring tools into one unified platform.

Strengths

  • Flat usage-based pricing ($0.15/GB) that scales predictably

  • Unlimited retention with full control over data

  • Fast dashboards and query performance

  • Self-hosting within a company's own environment

  • Unified correlation across metrics, traces, and logs

Typical Environments & Scale

CubeAPM can support companies ranging from startups to mid-size enterprises. It’s ideal for SaaS, fintech, e-commerce, and regulated industries that require strict data control. Its scalable architecture supports high ingestion volumes and hybrid environments, ensuring performance visibility without vendor lock-in or unpredictable costs.

Efficient observability with cost control

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use CubeAPM as a comprehensive APM solution to achieve full-stack observability across our cloud-native and microservices environments.

CubeAPM helps us monitor application health, infrastructure performance, and user experience through real-time dashboards, distributed tracing, and synthetic monitoring.

Pros

  • Alerting on set matrices
  • View graphs for needed matrices of our Application
  • with lower cost w.r.t the service we were using previously.

Cons

  • if posible more details on DB query, Like NR used to give details of even Index used for that slow query. This might make easy to solve slow DB query ( wrong-index issue)

Return on Investment

  • Gave us the needed feature which we were using with lower cost
