Use Cases and Deployment Scope

IBM Maximo Application Suite is our enterprise management tool, where for our client, we use it to manage the lifecycle of an asset or an item, starting from creation to maintenance until becoming scrap. We will store all the information in our application. Using this, we will do preventive and predictive maintenance of the item. Also, we can monitor the health of the item regularly and keep track of inventory orders. If more items are needed via the reorder process we can order them. Also, we can do inventory spare parts management in IBM Maximo Application Suite. Also it has the feature of mobile application which is very useful for onfield technicians. Overall it's a complete package starting from creation till the scrapping of item or asset data will be stored also maintaining of these items or assets are done via IBM Maximo Application Suite.

Maximo for Asset Management.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As an Asset Management System Administrator, I use Maximo in different capacities, from creating work orders, service requests, preventive maintenance, and job plans to reviewing meter readings, running reports, and other maintenance-related activities. Our organization also uses Maximo for procurement, including multiple storerooms and thousands of items. The reporting capabilities are among the many features I use most.

Pros

  • The ability to use a large number of fields in different applications to collect data for future analysis.
  • Robust applications and database structure.
  • Applications to support Total Cost of Asset Ownership.

Cons

  • User Interface - It can be overwhelming in some applications.
  • Built-in notification process, e.g., SMS, Emails, Etc. Yes, it is possible to configure these notifications, but the configuration process is not as simple as on other platforms.

Return on Investment

  • The real ROI on Maximo comes from time savings in processes that can be automated or enhanced within Maximo.
  • Increased uptime (based on a good maintenance plan).
  • Since it offers a wide variety of fields for applications, the interface is not as user-friendly in some cases.

Maximo it Will Save you Time and Money

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Maximo to track Engineering work orders, Maintenance Calls, Downtime, Qualification Documents, PM Schedules mainly. It is nice to have all these items in one place to be tracked other systems that I have used only do bits and pieces and it is hard to keep track of it all.

Pros

  • Tracking work maintenance work orders
  • Revision Control for qualification documents
  • Tracking Machine Downtime
  • Reminding Maintenance about upcoming PMs.

Cons

  • There can be a bit of a learning curve when it comes to running it.
  • It is not always clear on error messages. For example, a missed required field when entering data can be hard to catch.
  • It can struggle sometimes exporting data into excel.

Return on Investment

  • We have fast turnaround time when machines are down.
  • Inventory tracking has helped with ordering the right parts at the right time
  • collaboration between groups.
