We use ID.me for identity verification. We wanted to offer a discount to special groups and ID.me was a tool that we could partner with to solve this issue. We are currently using ID.me for Military and Student discounts but eventually would like to expand to all their group offerings.

ID.me has been a great tool for us when we wanted to offer discounts to special groups, such as past and present service members. We also were able to easily implement a student discount in a short timeframe, which was very beneficial during our Back to School season. We have seen a lot of our customers taking advantage of these special group discounts.

We use ID.me at my organization as a verification service to verify customer status to provide certain, exclusive discounts to certain customers. In the past, we should paper document verification which is timely and cost-heavy to have done, and using software, eliminates those needs and saves us both time and money.

ID.me is well suited for our business to verify customers to provide a discount due to their top-notch software which is easy for our customers to use and is quick. Beyond customer experience, it has massive business benefits as it saves us a lot of time and money to use their white-glove software vs doing it ourselves as we did in the past using paper documents and our own people.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize ID.me to drive customer acquisition across various customer segments that we otherwise would struggle to drive at such an efficient cost. The scale of their user base and the ability to quickly verify, particularly military personnel, is tremendously valuable. Being able to confidently and quickly verify removes a significant back-end verification burden on our team.

For our brand, this helps us find individuals who are deserving of a promotional discount year-round based on their occupation or contribution to society. Because ID.me is trusted and gated we also avoid channel conflict challenges by using the software.

ID.me is the ID verification vendor we use to provide discounts to First Responders, Military, and other high-value customer segments. We had no previous solution in place, so working with ID.me has enabled my company to *easily* expand our reach into customer segments we would not have otherwise had access to.

ID.me is a fabulous option for companies that only have a manual process with which to validate/authenticate the identities of their customers. ID.me provides a scalable solution for this issue with ~10+ 'out of the box' customer segments as well as the ability to create custom customer segments that are necessary for your business needs. With these segments, ID.me also provides a robust suite of marketing packages (email, social media, site activation) that brands can purchase to further activate these segments.

ID.me has been a great way to not only verify employment or status but also to prevent fraud. By using ID.me it takes the adding of discounts away from our frontline where fraud can be prevalent and adds checks and balances of sorts to confirm the validity of who is sighing up for said offer. Although you pay for ID.me it has saved us much more in the addition of fraudulent offers being provided to customers who were not eligible in the first place.

Cons

  • Be able to verify people without them providing any documentation by getting access to needed databases where that information is stored.
  • Be conscious that people do not like to provide their SS#.

Likelihood to Recommend

May not be advantageous for a very small business due to price. Offers a great way to cut out fraud. You will need to make sure customer flow is not effective. Could be a great way to save money.
