Great observability and async onboarding tool

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sapling HR is used across most of the organization departments. It's a career development, onboarding, and administrative changes hub. It has a nice ability of planning future assignments to new coming employees: so you don't need to bombard or overwhelm the new person, but rather schedule appearance of the new tasks as newcomer is getting deeper into the process. Nice one!

Pros

  • scheduling upcoming tasks
  • tracking on the to do list
  • provide manager with clear view on onboarding

Cons

  • Org chart is very useful but takes a lot of time to load (250 people) and eats a lot of CPU
  • Maybe it's hour policy, but I need to log in again every 30 mins

Likelihood to Recommend

It's a good space to have a high level overview of the organization (especially Org view).

Places for improvement include extra levels of complexity when you need to click on the person and you are navigated to the pop-up that is hard to use and only one pop up can be used at a time. I wish there wasn't so much of clicking in and clicking out.

Helpful Onboarding Tool

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sapling [HR] is used across our organization to assist with onboarding. It streamlines the process of task management for new hires and is intuitive for users. There are many tasks and processes during onboarding that Sapling automates - it also assists post onboarding to remind folks to complete tasks like 30/60/90 feedback.

Pros

  • Onboarding
  • Automation
  • Efficiency

Cons

  • Post-onboarding
  • Analytics

Likelihood to Recommend

Sapling [HR] is well suited for helping new hires get acquainted with the company and provide necessary documentation during their onboarding process with the company that they just joined. It is less appropriate for normal managers to go in and look for analytics or coach to specific needs within an organization.

Pretty Good for certain use cases!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize Sapling HR as a more user friendly and intuitive layer on top of ADP Workforce Now and as a partner in digital onboarding for new hires.

Pros

  • Time off management
  • On demand reporting
  • Onboarding workflow management
  • Offboarding workflow management

Cons

  • Deeper data management/review - dashboard experience could be better and deeper
  • Ability to drill into reports within the tool- right now it takes you out to a sheet to view
  • Org planning/org chart sharing

Likelihood to Recommend

I think for specific use cases it makes a lot of sense- I would blindly recommend it to anyone- I think it serves a purposes- has areas of growth potential and does some things well. So I'd want to spend some time understanding the users needs before recommending. That said- for a team that is locked into ADP I think it serves a great purpose as ADP is very non-user friendly for the average employee. And for a team that needs some workflows more automated because they don't have people to manage process, it is really helpful.

Simple place for storage

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sign and hold documents.

Whole organization.

Paper files, online organization, collective place for HR documents for company across the US.

Does allow for quick review and frequent alerts to keep all parties accountable. This means HR representatives don't have to alert new candidates as often as before. They can screen shot exactly what is missing for the candidate to review and update.

Pros

  • Organized documents.
  • Ability to DocuSign.
  • Email intra and inter.

Cons

  • Less email reminders to incomplete work.
  • Clicks must be specific to file, can't highlight and open file.
  • Too many add-ons in the system.
  • Have to upload and transfer too many documents.

Likelihood to Recommend

Less appropriate for small business/one location. Seems to make things more complicated by having to upload paperwork in different areas.

Specific scenarios: different locations, many employees, easy availability to organize employees.

Multiple people can access uploaded information which is helpful to follow the onboarding process. However, it doesn't allow for complete access all of files to be completed by HR.

A highly customizable tool that allows teams to work together to ensure a smooth employee onboarding

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sapling HR is used by Medely to onboard healthcare staff that accept work assignments at hospitals and other healthcare facilities all over the country. Assignments typically last for 13 weeks. The system is used by a team of Healthcare Recruiters, account managers, credentialing specialists, payroll and human resources. There are unique requirements for onboarding employees for each specific role, each state, and for each facility, so we needed a system that could be customized to accommodate each of these requirements.

Pros

  • Very customizable. Very easy to create new workflows and tasks to meet the unique needs of your organization.
  • The system is easy to navigate, so minimal training is needed for users.

Cons

  • Though the system is easy to use and set up, getting in contact with a customer support representative can take some time.
  • As highly customizable as it is, there are some features that you cannot change or bypass.

Likelihood to Recommend

My team and I did an extensive search of onboarding tools that could meet our very specific requirements. There were few other systems that combined this level of customization with ease of use.

Sapling HR is simple to use and so organized!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Used for every onboarding employee to keep their contact and personal information in an organized space. The business problem it seems to address is employee personal information (i.e. t-shirt sizes, phone numbers, etc.).

Pros

  • Organization Structure: Clean and simple visual organization structure to understand the business fairly quickly.
  • Onboarding: Great tool for utilizing their questionnaire and presentation tools.
  • Employee info: Keeping all employee/workforce individual info (i.e. t-shirt sizes).

Cons

  • Being able to complete Sapling surveys in email would be hugely convenient.
