Millie and Sentinel Group

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are in our sixth year using the Millie platform at Sentinel Group. Millie supports our Sentinel Cares and employee engagement efforts. Initially, we looked at Millie as a volunteer management and matching gift solution but we've been able to grow and develop campaign, advocacy and education tools. The Millie team have been wonderful partners and they have always been open to feedback along the way.

Pros

  • Volunteer Management
  • Matching Gift Management
  • Advocacy and Fundraising Campaigns
  • Analytics and Reporting
  • Employee training tools and recordings

Cons

  • Support for 3rd party fundraising efforts beyond offline giving (direct to fundraiser's account)
  • Continued growth of campaign options (much improved!)

Return on Investment

  • Employee volunteerism hit 90% within the first two years
  • Our employees use their match benefits at more than three times the national average for companies our size
  • The Millie Madness bracket has yielded high (40%) participation in addition to allowing employees to advocate for nonprofit clients.
  • Millie has allowed us to take analytics out of spreadsheets and created an ongoing "annual" record for review.

Great giving and volunteer platform

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Millie for employee volunteer and giving programming. We have different campaigns throughout the year for employees to give back to different organizations and also provide gifts to new employees that they can donate to organizations of their choice. For volunteering, we offer different opportunities throughout the year and also track volunteer hours.

Pros

  • Tracking volunteer hours for employees
  • Organize volunteer activities and advertise them to employees
  • Donate to organizations globally

Cons

  • More features for managing funds and donating as an organization
  • More local volunteer activities for employees to participate in

Return on Investment

  • Tracking volunteer and giving

Millie is a solid investment and a true partner in employee volunteer and giving initiatives

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Millie runs our employee giving program and replaced a legacy enterprise platform that carried more complexity and cost than our program actually needed. Millie's core functionality addressed specific business problems for us:
- Engagement not just transactions: Millie as a platform engages employees in giving and provides visibility in participation rather than treating philanthropy as a background HR benefit.
- Right-sized cost and partner fit: we moved to a platform that matches our scale and better aligned with our values and giving needs.
I also appreciate the depth of engagement and support from the Millie team. When we have had questions or shared feedback, they are very proactive in addressing our concerns or questions. Since implementing Millie, our employee engagement with giving and volunteerism has more than doubled which has had significant impact.

Pros

  • identifying nonprofits to give to or volunteer with - their database of nonprofits brings the missions and values of these organizations to life and has encouraged more employees to give or volunteer
  • platform support and team engagement - the Millie Team is invested in our success. It truly feels like a partnership and not a transactional engagement. We receive high quality, consistent, and intentional engagement which ensures ongoing success for our employee giving and volunteer efforts.

Cons

  • integration with Workday to support more direct VTO logging

Return on Investment

  • 50% increase in volunteer time off utilization
  • an increase in employee giving

More than a software a partner

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Millie to power up our volunteering and giving work. As a team of one, having a place where employees can take the reins of how they want to engage allows me to focus on how we can amplify impact. The main challenges/problems we wanted to solve for were:
1. Moving from a centralized process through me, to a decentralized process that allowed employees all around to participate actively as leaders of impact
2. Engaging employees with an extremely limitedd budget
3. Work towards making the case for donation matching whith no budget
4. Trusted partner to source nonprofits from

Today, we still do not have a formal matching program, but the platform has allowed us to test and beta some engagment initiatives and start buildign the case.

Pros

  • User interface is clean and easy to understand
  • Incredibly flexible and great partners is driving impact with small budgets
  • Easy use and guidance for champions

Cons

  • Calendar and distro list integrations
  • nonprofit search-ability in volunteer tab particularly but in general can be difficult
  • This is little, but not being able to move around events in order
  • Limited integrations, I have to manually upload attributes to have more robust data
  • I know this is a reality for most platforms, but a lack of integration with Workday on approval VTO time

Return on Investment

  • We are too early on our journey to be able to have concrete data on this, but I am now able to have more information on behaviors and trends around volunteering from our employees, their teams, and locations.
  • Proven to be another lever we have been able to use to unify our global workforce

Millie Great Value and Features

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Millie for setting up company volunteer events, fundraisers, and various internal giving campaigns.

Pros

  • The team is very responsive and is great at engaging with us when we have an issue, or bringing new ideas to the table
  • The platform is easy to use and manage as an administrator, I haven't had any issues with it yet.
  • The Millie team is also putting out new updates, continuously improving the platform. They also care about the feedback from customers, and often ask us for input when they're deciding on new features.

Cons

  • I think it takes roughly 3 weeks to a month for donations made through Millie to be delivered to nonprofits. My main feedback is it would be great to make that process shorter.

Return on Investment

  • Its really helpful to see how many people are volunteering on the platform and how many hours they have volunteered.
  • Seeing the amount people have donated themselves is really great too.
