Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Workspace ONE Unified Endpoint Management (UEM is a unified solution used by our IT teams to deploy and manage apps on our enterprise machines, including our Macbooks and Windows Laptops, as well as Android and iOS devices on which we use corporate apps such as emails and chat communicators. Workspace ONE Unified Endpoint Management (UEM works nicely to help install, configure and update these apps.

Pros

  • Works with all platforms - Windows, Mac, Android and iOS
  • Protects devices against attacks
  • Profiles and configuration can be easily changed remotely for all devices
  • In case the device is lost, wiping out the device is also very easy.

Cons

  • Onboarding new devices is not very intuitive
  • Some programmatic ways should be provided to manage devices
  • Installation of apps through the Workspace ONE Unified Endpoint Management (UEM master app is slower than the regular installing apps directly

Likelihood to Recommend

Workspace ONE Unified Endpoint Management (UEM makes mobile device management very efficient. This is been a leading product in this space for a very long time. If you have multiple kinds of platforms being used in your organization, I would suggest going for Workspace ONE Unified Endpoint Management (UEM without a doubt. This will make managing multi-platform devices a breeze.

Average Application with Useful Feature Set

Rating: 6 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use it multiple times a week to look at device information to assist with investigations and management. We use this to manage our corporate deployment of Iphones and managed applications. Currently it is used only for corporate owned devices. Some of the application we use transmit patient data and we desire to fully manage those devices.

Pros

  • Per app vpn
  • mass management
  • policy enforcement

Cons

  • Logging any sort device data
  • User experience in the console is not very intuitive
  • Sometimes policies are not clear as to how to implement and what is ultimatley affected on the device. Lack of clarity

Likelihood to Recommend

We feel that it does great when the deployment is pretty homogenized of devices that are fully managed. We dont fully trust mixing personal devices and managing single applications and fully managed devices. While it can mix this deployment we choose not to go down this path simply for the possibility of compliance issues that could arise. It is a trust level we do not have.

Quick Workspace ONE Unified Endpoint Management recap

Rating: 6 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our search started with the need for a system to manage our mobile devices (security)policy wise. When we were researching solutions and their possibilities the search broadend to other features and a UEM solution instead of MDM. We decided to go with a solution that tightly integrates with our current IT suppliers and decided between Microsoft and VMWare. We mainly chose Workspace ONE Unified Endpoint Management because it had matured more as the Microsoft solutions at that time and was managable through one Pane of Glass. We used it to restrict our mobile devices with policies, deploy some standard app store apps and content locker to access internal fileservers.

Pros

  • Integrate with on-premises applications and fileshares
  • Restrict and manage mobile devices
  • Connect to third party solutions like Samsung Knox.

Cons

  • You need to install too many components on-premises
  • The portal is not really easy to use
  • The combination with other VMWare solutions is not simple

Likelihood to Recommend

Workspace ONE Unified Endpoint Management is best suited for mid to large-size companies that require all the functions that it presents. It is a plus if you are well known with the VMWare "Horizon" ecosystem and use some of these solutions. It's to hard and resource intensive to setup and manage for small companies. Next to that it is to costly for only basic functionality compared to other solutions

Workspace ONE UEM Management Stacked Up Against Other Offerings

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Workspace ONE is used to manage our Android fleet throughout North America. The implementation allows us to manage access, deploy updated applications, remotely configure devices, and locate devices. This solution is being used by our entire organization and is a major part of allowing us to operate from day-to-day.

Pros

  • Robust API.
  • Through endpoint management offerings.
  • Ability to implement quickly.

Cons

  • Complicated UX/UI
  • Additional SKUs for UEM functionality
  • Inconsistent Support
  • Feature Requests Difficult To Request and Follow-Up On

Likelihood to Recommend

Workspace ONE has allowed us to reconsider how we were previously managing our endpoints and complete a major update that allows for much more efficient management. Our endpoints are open and have carriers change, which was an easy solution using the vast API capabilities that Workspace ONE has available. Support is simplified, as users no longer have to be provisioned, and reporting has been pulled into a previously used solution.

AirWatch...the product that will make you want to change careers

Rating: 1 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I used AirWatch at a previous organization. It was used by the entire organization. Its intention was to be an MDM, which once you get past the bugs. It mostly did its job.

Pros

  • It does nothing particular well. If you need to manage a lot of different devices (e.g. iOS, Android, Blackberry) and you only want to do it with one MDM, it will do it, but it will cause you a lot headache along the way.

Cons

  • The entire platform. It is riddled with bugs and horribly annoying to get fixed. During our upgrade planning meetings we would spend DAYS just reviewing their bug list to identify everything that would break within our environment.
  • The UI is completely inconsistent making it difficult to do the simplest of tasks
  • Their API would break from upgrade to upgrade causing major compatibility issues with our internal tools.
  • It requires a massive on prem server infrastructure. 300% bigger than our other MDM which was much more reliable.

Likelihood to Recommend

If I could could give a negative rating I would. The ONLY scenario I would recommend using AirWatch is if I needed to support multiple platforms via one MDM and I was not permitted to use MobileIron. There are just so many bugs and it requires such a large server infrastructure to support that it requires a Team of people to support. Competing products are more reliable and more cost effective to use.

MDM made easy!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Stratix is a value added reseller of AirWatch and we provide professional services to our clients. I currently manage several clients' multi-instance SaaS environments. AirWatch is being used in these environments to support many different types of business and departments giving us scalable options to manage thousands of devices. The types of problems AirWatch solves for our clients range from mass deployment of apps and content to inventory and lifecycle management, to security and manageability of devices across the globe.

Pros

  • Enrollment is a snap with many different options. This allows organizations with corporately owned or BYOD programs to bring devices under management in a flexible and scalable solution.
  • Deployment of apps-AirWatch makes deploying apps across your organization simple a quick.
  • AirWatch is usually close to "Zero Day" ready with major hardware manufacturers updated features. Many of the Android and iOS updated features are incorporated into the environments almost as soon as they are released.
  • AirWatch has great customer service. This was not always the case but as the company has grown over the last year in particular, I have been receiving better customer service compared to other MDMs.

Cons

  • Consolidate communication- AirWatch has a tendency to over communicate. I receive about 5 emails a day regarding updates, issues or bug fixes. Unfortunately this leads to some emails being ignored.
  • Make reporting easier to get. I find get a report together is a multi step process. I'd like to see this process become easier in the future.
  • Improve the help menu from within the AirWatch portal. I'd like to see a help menu integrated into the portal as opposed to leaving the portal to read through documentation.
  • Continue to improve the customer service experience. Though it has improved greatly, there is still a little room for improvement. Initial calls to support are exclusively used to open a ticket. Call back times can sometimes be as much as 2 hours.

Likelihood to Recommend

AirWatch is a great tool for large organizations that need to manage more than 100 devices. The product is capable of handling multiple platforms and is scalable to any size company.

I would not recommend AirWatch to small companies, companies with minimal MDM needs or companies on a tight budget. It's the Rolls Royce of MDMs, it has all the bells and whistles and it's not inexpensive.

AirWatch - Keep an eye on company used mobile devices

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Airwatch is currently being used to manage our mobile technology equipment. AirWatch has been installed on both Apple iOS and Android style tablets.

Currently AirWatch allows us to:

-Configure automatic application installation and configuration.

-Remove or allow various applications on the home screen or app drawer.

-View status and health reports such as uptime, connectivity, battery percentage, data consumption, location, etc.

-Remotely lock device or remove device passcode

-Force application reinstalls or push applications to devices

Pros

  • Report device status in one location
  • Show device compliance and remove device from MDM if device is compromised
  • Deploy, update, or install applications on a mass scale
  • Remove users ability to use device in situations of employee termination
  • Use app "catalog" to allow users to install specific company approved applications

Cons

  • Admin console is cumbersome and has features poorly organized. Completing some simple tasks can take some searching.
  • Devices sometimes are randomly seen as "compromised" and need to be added. Users all reported not doing anything out of the ordinary. Has happened to approximately 7-10% of devices.
  • Devices must be "Supervised" to maximize features. Placing devices in "supervised" mode can only be done on a Apple computer.

Likelihood to Recommend

Works very well for controlling devices in a company device owned situation or in a "bring-your-own" device situation. Allows the administrator easy access to a dashboard to see how device compliance is.

Our company was looking for software to lock down the iPads and Android devices to only allow company approved programs, AirWatch did a great job completing this task and has given us the flexibility we need within a controlled environment.

AirWatch Review

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

AirWatch is our enterprise MDM solution. It enables us to manage and secure mobile devices - both company issued and BYOD.

Pros

  • Secure.
  • Easy to use.
  • Lightweight.

Cons

  • The enrollment processes wasn't intuitive.

Likelihood to Recommend

It's a leading MDM solution. Should be considered against IBM MaaS 360, Microsoft Intune, Mobile Iron, Blackberry Good, etc.
