Oracle managed DNS has been the most vital part of the engineering process of our cloud product. It is being used by our organization's cloud department. It addresses the domains of all our customers which is in a way directly affecting the customer.

Pros

Faster DNS provisioning
Rapid DNS Change propagation
Highly available
REST APIs available which makes it easy to use

Cons

Dyn UI was a bit heavy to use. Improvement in UI will make the product seamless.
Sometimes there are errors while updating the Dyn from REST APIs, so improving it will add a plus point to the product.
Traversing between pages of Dynects was difficult from the UI.

Oracle managed DNS becomes very heavy when there is an ample amount of DNS being managed. However, the DNS creation and updating takes very less time to propagate and is very easy to use. So, for an organization, where there is a modest amount of DNS to manage, it works very well and gives a splendid experience. So, considering the complexity of managing the DNS for an IT company Oracle Dyn managed DNS is the best option to opt.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using Oracle Dyn Managed DNS to host all of our domains across the organization. With Dyn DNS it is very responsive and the population of DNS across the globe is immediate. So during DNS publish we never waited for more than 30 min.

Pros

User Management is easy
I can give the Role base Access to DNS
The failover Functionality of DNS works very well.

Cons

We didn't find any cons yet as there as whatever we are looking for and using is already there in Dyn Managed DNS

If anyone looking for DNS hosting with quick response time will surely suggest the Oracle Dyn Managed DNS. User management is one of the best features which we used to give Role base access to DNS.

We use dyn DNS as our primary external DNS hosted service.

Pros

Fault tolerance of DNS records
Fault tolerance of DNS names. We can fail over our services to another server almost instantly.

Cons

I would like to share the DNS namespace with our internal DNS servers. This is a difficult configuration to maintain.

Likelihood to Recommend

External DNS zones are particularly suited for this product and the failover features and uptime are great.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Oracle Dyn Managed DNS is being used for our external DNS management and Active/Fail-over for all our sites used across the entire organization. It allows us to use a cloud-based system for external DNS that was easy to implement and easy to use. The accounts can also be secured by 2FA, though it would also be nice if the Domain Registration account could be secured by 2FA as well.

Pros

The portal management is very easy to use in comparison to other companies for DNS management.
The have expert mode that allows for multiple edits on records and allows you to make notes for each edit on a zone.
The have TTLs that are as low as 30 seconds.

Cons

They used to answer the phone when you called them, now after their purchase by Oracle, you have to leave a message for someone to call you back.
Does not integrate with Dyn Domain Registration, so you need to have multiple accounts: one for Domain Registration and one for Dyn Managed DNS.
No 2FA on Domain Registration.

Oracle Dyn Managed DNS service is well suited for any company looking for a strong, very reliable external DNS infrastructure that also has support for dynamic records that change regularly.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it to manage our public facing DNS records. It acts as the entry point to our website and other services for all users both internal and external. We also use it for load balancing and redundancy. It alerts us when things go up and down which is useful.

Pros

Easy to manage
Records update almost immediately
Provides geographic load balancing

Cons

Sometimes its hard to find the settings I'm looking for
Confusing to transfer domains into Dyn

Likelihood to Recommend

Its very easy to manage and does exactly what it advertises. It works great if you have multiple DNS records to manage. It makes it really easy to do so. If you only have 1 record then it probably doesn't make sense to use Dyn. Other than that I'd say use it.

Oracle DYN DNS is used by our IT department to manage all our company and client domains. We rely on DYN advanced active failover features to provide our clients the redundancy and resiliency of an Enterprise solution. With it we can make sure that the client services are never down for more than 1 min by failing them over to our DR site using DYN.

Pros

Excellent Active Failover configuration with flexible health monitors and syslog capabilities.
The ability to easily configure Domain forwarding and redirection using several rule types.
It has excellent audit tracking, which allows us to tell who made a change to what part of the domain records.

Cons

It would be nice if the interface was more user-friendly and reduce the number of clicks to get a record edited.
A dashboard with better service summary for the domains.

Likelihood to Recommend

DYN offers great active failover capabilities which are very easy to configure and use.

We use Oracle Dyn Managed DNS for our public facing enterprise websites. It is being used only by our department. We also use it for switchover between our primary and secondary data center in the event of failure.

Pros

Oracle Dyn Managed DNS's GUI is very user-friendly.
The configuration is also very easy.

Cons

I would like to see a GUI Dashboard where Dyn shows all of the DNS traffics.

The interface could use an upgrade, there are always places this could be done

Oracle Dyn Managed DNS is in use for the company primary domain, which is at the core of the companies business model as it touches the website as well as email communications. As a robust solution, it keeps DNS responsive and resilient, ensuring that people can reach us at any time of the ay or night.

Pros

Fast DNS query responses
High and fair priced QPS allowances
Ease of use from an administrator perspective as the console is intuitive and simple to navigate

Cons

Simpler billing interface
More responsive sales team to provide relevant QBRs to ensure proper and best practice use of the product/platform
Integration of the Dyn ECT Managed DNS with Dyn Domain Registration would be a nice feature as currently I have to manage two consoles and billing accounts.

Likelihood to Recommend

For any company that needs a robust DNS service that can handle high QPS volumes without latency or lag, Oracle Dyn is the best that I have used. I can always rely on the backend infrastructure to ensure that DNS isn't a bottleneck for website performance. I have never had to open a support ticket for any issues and published changes to DNS records are nearly instantaneous across the globe.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

DNS is a very critical service for every business and NBC is no exception. Uptime, faster resolution, low latency and ease of use are keys of a good DNS service. NBC has been using Oracle Dyn Managed DNS for over 6 years using it to manage the DNS for over 100 production and non-production services. The service is flexible, with an intuitive user interface and also offers RESTful APIs for automation. 2FA is supported for securing the service. It provides low TTLs for up to 30 seconds for production services which need the flexibility to change. With the exception of a DDOS attack in 2016 during which service was impacted, the service is been up all the time.

Pros

Ease of use, highly configurable, RESTful APIs, and uptime are highlights of the product.
Low latency, uptime, and fast resolutions are keys to our business and Oracle Dyn Managed DNS shines.
The support people are very professional, easy to reach and helped find solutions within minutes.

Cons

The core service meets all our needs. I see no reasons to change the user interface or anything just for the sake of an update.

RESTful APIs are really helpful in automating for creating, updating, and deleting A records. During a 2016 DDoS attack, Oracle Dyn Managed DNS recovered relatively quicker given the scale and complexity of the attack.
