Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I have used Submittal Exchange on many construction projects over several years. We use it to process the Submittals and other construction contract documents.

Pros

Submittal Exchange allow simultaneous review of submittals
Submittal Exchange has automatic notifications when a document has advanced to the next step
Submittal Exchange allows for customization of notifications

Cons

The pdf mark-up tools are not as good as Bluebeam
Submittal Exchange pricing has become prohibitive
I have not used Submittal Exchange for maintaining current document sets

Return on Investment

The software definitely saves time, but the cost has to be analyzed against competitor products.
My company only uses Submittal Exchange when required by Clients. There is too much variation in the industry for us to commit to one system, which in turn causes inefficiencies.
There is a trend to get multiple functions into one software system, but my company already has a history with other software to accomplish various tasks, so the ROI is minimized.

Pros

It is very easy to navigate the site and find what you are looking for.
They have a great support team.
It is easy to remind different trades via notification of there are documents or submittals needed for them.

Cons

The daily reminder emails can quickly keep filling up your inbox.
I can't think of anything else because it is very easy to use.

Return on Investment

It has allowed us to manage our submittals better and get the back in a timely manner to schedule projects accordingly and keep the flow going.
It can be a little time consuming to get the project data entered but if done right, it is worth it.
