Who Buys & Uses Procore

Pros

  • Robust centralized document management for project artifacts.
  • Streamlined RFI and submittal processes.
  • Real-time project updates and enhanced team communication.

Cons

  • Performance issues, including slow loading and lagging, especially on mobile.
  • Confusing user interface and navigation due to feature overlap.
  • Limited customization options for forms and settings.

Procore is a reliable document management platform

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Procore for a centralized document control site. It holds project drawings, specifications, and submittals. Sometimes it will also be a drop zone for file sharing but not often.

Pros

  • Organizes information
  • Easy to search
  • Available to all project team members

Cons

  • Drawing viewer is slow
  • Submittal page is unclear what is most current
  • Add-in crashes our modeling software

Return on Investment

  • Procore saves time by allowing all team members to view the same information and not copies of copies that could be out of date
  • A negative impact is the BIM software add-ins. They are cumbersome to install and have caused crashes and requried removal to continue working.

Alternatives Considered

Autodesk Docs, Egnyte and Newforma Project Center

Other Software Used

AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam

Mostly Good but still lacking.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I work for a non-profit home builder, I am the permitting manager. I create new projects, request Truss bids, upload drawings and documents and update all projects with permitting information. I find that there isn't a specified location for permitting/utility info. Currently we are using notes. This is not a productive way of providing this information to our team.

Pros

  • Documents Storage
  • Bidding and Invoicing
  • Drawing storage and updates

Cons

  • Permitting Inforamtion
  • Utility Information
  • Job Site Information

Return on Investment

  • Contract Management
  • Contractor Selections
  • Bid Requests

Other Software Used

Microsoft 365

Procore Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Procore as both a subcontractor and a GC. In using the software for both situations it proves to be extremely helpful in keeping the job organized and all in one place at the same time for everyone to use/share. The software keeps the project moving on schedule as well with real time updates and notifications to the project team members and helps hold everyone accountable for their work. Procore is very user-friendly on desktop, iPad, and iPhone. Not only is it beloved in the office, field employees love it as well to always have the plans/specs/submittals on them and answer questions before they become a delay.

Pros

  • Submittal Management
  • Drawing Management
  • Meeting Management
  • Schedule/Document Management
  • BIM Model

Cons

  • Financials
  • Cost
  • Project Closeout/Saving a Job for an Extended period of time

Return on Investment

  • Saved time in the office AND the field
  • Eliminated costly mistakes
  • Documented meeting minutes to assist for any questions/concerns on a project

Alternatives Considered

CMiC Construction Platform, Assemble and from Autodesk

Other Software Used

Bluebeam, CMiC Construction Platform, Microsoft Project

Procore Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am managing jobs in healthcare, lifesciences, and defence jobs as a general contractor. Procore houses it all, it avoids the long logging of insurance and reaching out to the pm for all invoicing or updates on a project. It creates a easy way to pay subs rather than cutting checks.

Pros

  • Invoicing system easy to use
  • tracking insurance and alerting subs of expiration
  • linking with docusign for contracts

Cons

  • enable lean waivers automatically
  • Set the project tools automatically or have a company default
  • Make a notification for the pm and pc to be alerted who hasnt signed a commitment

Return on Investment

  • saved time
  • Collaboration
  • Increased Efficiency

Other Software Used

Sage Intacct, Miter

Procore benefits at your project

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I mostly use it at the Owner level being the administrator of the project, helps with all the end-to-end documentation of it, daily log help a lot as well for the record of important things like weather, site visits from the client or even quality audits, tools like observations and inspections help to track these finding and continue the follow up accordingly

Pros

  • Documentation management
  • Schedule integration
  • Graphic evidence like audits, reports and photos

Cons

  • Meetings assignees responsibles integration at Home page (myopenitems), several points between meetings are stacking up in my Home
  • Financial tools are sometimes confusing, im using Procore in Mexico's projects and it's kinda confusing sometime where to drop POs, Contract Amounts, Change order, Change events
  • Set inspections as different profiles like, leasing contract, owner, GC, etc

Return on Investment

  • Saved time
  • Increased efficiency
  • Communication transparency between parties
  • Long term commercial relationships
