Paylocity review

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Paylocity to manage payroll and make payroll data easily available for our staff. Paylocity options to also leave reviews and feedback for other staff members as part of their performance review are also a nice feature and helpful for managers and staff to assess where their strengths and areas of opportunity arise.

Pros

  • Accessible dashboard
  • Easy to review historical info
  • Easy to run reports

Cons

  • None come to mind

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited to have staff information available to each employee instead of only having this information available under secured location managed by HR. 24 hour access is handy

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Paylocity as our HRIS and payroll system to manage employee records, payroll processing, benefits administration, time and attendance, onboarding, and compliance-related reporting. The system serves as a centralized source of employee and payroll data, streamlining HR and payroll operations across the organization. From a business perspective, Paylocity enables us to efficiently execute day-to-day HR processes while keeping the HR team small.

Pros

  • Workflow
  • Payroll Processing.
  • Compensation Module.

Cons

  • Cleaner differentiation for users with manager and regular employee access.
  • Stronger payroll support for foreign nationals, NRA.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is excellent for small- to medium-sized employers, with a single EIN or multiple EINs. It works well for small HR teams or a team of one for managing the employee lifecycle from hire to termination, including onboarding. Paylocity constantly rolls out updates and improvements and listens to customer feedback. The reporting module could be a bit stronger or provide support for building custom reports without incurring additional costs.

Service needs improvement but easy to use

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Paylocity to process to process biweekly payroll, manage employee employment information, annual reviews, recruiting, time and labor tracking, and reporting.

Pros

  • Easy to use payroll interface
  • Good report building tool
  • User Friendly employee navigating screen

Cons

  • Time and labor module is clunky
  • Service can be spotty

Likelihood to Recommend

Paylocity is a good product, it has some room for improvement specifically within the time and labor module, which is quite clunky and not integrated well within the rest of the platform. The service can be hit or miss. Either you will get a great, knowledgeable account manager or someone not helpful at all.

Good product but has room for improvement.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Paylocity throughout the day every day to retrieve information and gather data for review. We use the expense report module for reimbursement to employees for travel and the performance management system too.

Pros

  • The platform is well laid out
  • Training for each of the modules

Cons

  • Performance management is not intuitive enough and difficult to use. I’m still learning it.
  • The Reporting is difficult to use.

Likelihood to Recommend

Paylocity is a good system, however, there is definitely room for improvement. It needs to be more user-friendly and intuitive. I find myself having to put way too much information into the Reporting feature in hopes that I will get the results that I need. Many times I find myself frustrated with the Reporting feature and filters. Right now I’m on the fence as to whether or not our company will stay with Paylocity or move to another system that is easier to use.

I wish it was all it was sold to be.

Rating: 4 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Paylocity is our full-cycle HCM. We use it for payroll, performance, learning, onboarding, everything. We have about 150 team members and have used it since we had about 30 team members. Paylocity is meant to be a one stop shop, but we have started looking for other solutions for performance and recently separated out our recruiting.

Pros

  • Integrations
  • Payroll support
  • Ease of use

Cons

  • Service. No one wants to be accountable for customer success in my opinion.
  • Performance. The performance aspect is completely outdated and needs an overhaul.
  • Benefits. We have used them for 4 years and they mess up our benefit plans every year from my experience.

Likelihood to Recommend

Paylocity is good for a company who just wants basic HCM support and wants to stick with traditional HR practices. If a company is more forward-thinking with things like learning, culture, recruiting, and performance they should look elsewhere. The payroll functionality is fine so we are sticking with it but looking outside for other solutions outside of that.

No system is perfect but Paylocity is pretty great

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am the Payroll Manager so I use the system predominately to process payroll but we have a large suite or products within the HRIS. Our HR team heavily uses the Recruiting and Onboarding modules. We also use the Learning module, but only for the standard annual sexual harassment prevention training, but also assessing it for our other training needs. We have an extensive, custom training program right now that Paylocity's system may be able to handle. We also use Time & Labor, but not to its full capacity just due to our structure, but our looking to see how we can utilize it more for time of requests and things of that nature. We also have other modules we don't use often but plan to explore more like Recognition and Rewards, Performance, and Compensation. Switching to Paylocity has allowed us to eliminate multiple systems and overall speed up our efficiency when it comes to payroll processing. It's also saved us time to do various integrations that are available with our POS system (we're a restaurant) and outside vendors like benefits and 401k. We also use the Benefits module and complete our entire Open Enrollment and new hire enrollment processes within the system which was a big change and super helpful.

Pros

  • User Friendly
  • All In One System
  • Integrations

Cons

  • Tax Amendments take way too long
  • Custom calculation set up was a nightmare
  • Answers to questions outside the scope of your "regular" rep can take too much time

Likelihood to Recommend

As a medium sized restaurant group, I think Paylocity has been really helpful in allowing us to streamline some of our processes. We are very seasonal and do a ton of onboarding and offboarding and Paylocity has made that easier. It also has great integration options and allowed us to eliminate systems we had before for a more all-in-one approach. With that said, there is always room for improvement and I think the biggest issue is the turn around time for some items, especially tax return amendments.

Superior payroll processing. Easy to use and learn Great team of communicators. Highly recommended.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Paylocity to process our payroll on a biweekly basis, and also for onboarding, and offboarding.

Pros

  • Communication
  • Functionality
  • Ease of use

Cons

  • I have not seen anything that can be improved so far. They are our first payroll processing company

Likelihood to Recommend

Paylocity had to help us integrate our payroll into our General Ledger in a totally different program. They made that seamless.

They also made the benefit integration seamless as we currently have that with another provider.

Paylocity review

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it for our payroll benefits, our training compliance, and we use it for engagement.

Pros

  • It's really good for our training because it can automatically send out the reminder emails. I can easily tell who's behind on compliance, and instead of having to personally hunt them down, have the system send them emails.

Cons

  • I think that during the setup phase, it's kind of hard. You don't know what you don't know, so it's kind of hard to set up everything you need. And once you get to using and want to make some changes, it's a little clunky to go back and change things.

Likelihood to Recommend

As I said, I think payroll benefits are amazing. I think where it's really well suited, and people don't use it a lot, is for your L and D learning development.

Paylocity Review

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We certainly use the product for the entire employee experience from candidate resourcing to hire to onboarding. So, pretty much the employee lifecycle.

Pros

  • We can integrate with LinkedIn, for example. And if a candidate applies, then we certainly can make it an easy switch to get them hired, and they can start the onboarding online. And so there's really just a simple get them hired, and so it's great.

Cons

  • I would say that something that could be done differently is some of the navigation. When you open an employee profile, it opens in a new browser. And so by the end of the day, I have all these browsers on the system, but that's the only thing that I can think of that could need improvement.

Likelihood to Recommend

I like the onboarding piece as well. From recruiting to onboarding, it allows us to give them the immediate information they need, from policy to how to navigate through your payroll and look at your check stubs, direct deposit. There's no waiting period, so direct deposit is immediate. So if an employee starts on a Monday and we have a payroll that Friday, they still get their direct deposit. I really like that feature. I really don't have anything much negative to say about it. It's just a great product.

Paylocity is the WAY TO GO

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Paylocity's benefit portal, recruiting portal, onboarding and payroll. WE really like it compared to what we used to have.

Pros

  • the employee portal
  • someone always answering, although they never have the correct answers
  • love the new changes
  • recruiting
  • onboarding module we love
  • Community page - amazing

Cons

  • the app matching the portal on line - Direct Deposit, etc
  • actually being able to set up meetings to discuss what we want and need with our account manager
  • to be able to pull more stubs at a time... more than 6 please

Likelihood to Recommend

I personally really love Paylocity and was a new system I implemented at my new job as we didn't care for the previous payroll system.
