Paylocity tips from an everyday user

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Paylocity helps with employee management, payroll, and time card control. It helps streamline onboarding with it centralizing all tasks in one place, even the I-9s. It has a robust expense submission and control although I wish it had the capabilities of being tailored but other than that it's a great software.

Pros

  • Expense Submission and Management
  • Time card tracking and easy correction system
  • Onboarding and Offboarding
  • Employee engagement tracking

Cons

  • Tailoring expense management
  • Re-doing batches when running payroll don't restore expenses and these then have to be run on a separate batch/payroll

Likelihood to Recommend

It's great for companies that want to centralize their HR department. If your company doesn't have the right size (50+ employees) then you might not get to use it's true power

Paylocity is excellent for small businesses

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am an HR department of 1 in a small Oil and Gas company. Paylocity has allowed me to streamline and automate the routine processes required by my role. For example, payroll used to take 3-4 hours (due to manual process requirements) and had a high risk of error. With Paylocity, payroll now takes 45 minutes and with reviews in place, helps me identify any potential errors.

Pros

  • Implementation Process and Support
  • Guidance on unique payroll process questions
  • Communications on year-end requirements, holidays and other important dates

Cons

  • A bit more customization in the Performance Module - more flexibility in creating a Review Form
  • Customer Service Consistency - depending on the person you get on the phone, your issue may not get resolved correctly
  • Timely Updates of Service Tickets

Likelihood to Recommend

I have used Paylocity in small businesses - Less than 50 employees. The capabilities for the price you pay is exceptional. The functionality is a fit for purpose especially for a small business. The greatest part is that when the business grew, the platform was able to scale with us. I would use Paylocity in any size business.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using Paylocity for Payroll and HR purposes, and we are learning how to use more and more of the items we are allowed to use. We are trying to streamline our payroll and HR processes, and with Paylocity we are close to doing everything just in Paylocity.

Pros

  • Payroll Process
  • Recruiting
  • Onboarding

Cons

  • I miss the Payroll employee look. The new look is harder to find what I need.
  • I wish we could update our own GL. We know what accounts things belong too, or should know. And I wish we could have then in the orders we have, not having to be just in a numerical order.
  • Labor Distribution Reports. We could really use this report to be on a selected date basis, not just a payroll date basis. It would help Those who are looking for 1) Cost analysis for our cost centers, and month end processing. Having a report like this would help us a lot.

Likelihood to Recommend

Customer Service is wonderful, people really do try and help.

Easy to use

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our HRIS/Payroll system. Ease of access, reliable, easy to use and teach others to use.

Pros

  • Accessibility
  • Configuration is simple, making it easier to tailor to our needs
  • Community, Onboarding, and Employee Voice have been great to use.

Cons

  • Customer Service support team is slow to respond and not helpful at all.
  • Lack of fluidity within modules; problems with approved expenses updating on the Payroll side
  • Changes occur frequently and are either not announced to clients at all until the last minute, or they are announced six months ahead of time and we are just left waiting for it to come to fruition.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is easy to learn, easy to teach employees how to use, the app is convenient and simple to navigate, and a lot of freedom and autonomy in setting up the configuration to tailor to our company's needs.

Great Product but Customer Service could use some work

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am our company Administrator and utilize Paylocity for Employee data management, Payroll, PTO tracking and time keeping for hourly employees. It has streamlined a lot of my process for HR management, onboarding and payroll. I really enjoy the products and the AI tool. Overall I would recommend this product to a friend but the customer service could use a bit of training and urgency. Luckily I try to navigate the issues on my own before i reach out to their customer service. I hope to be able to continue to streamline processes and utilize this community function even more to engage employees.

Pros

  • Payroll
  • Training videos
  • AI tool

Cons

  • customer service
  • urgency from customer service
  • customer service knowledge

Likelihood to Recommend

I believe all of the products that Paylocity offers are great. Only lacking quality would be customer service knowledge and the response time. Other than that, I am a happy customer and hope to be a longer lasting client with Paylocity as it has truly made a 10 step process for payroll into a 2 step and saved me headaches and time.

Paylocity Suite

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Paylocity as our primary HRIS platform. We run payroll through the platform, source and hire candidates, and run HR analytics using the reporting features. The system helps us tackle daily HR tasks and is a significant resource in the success of our people metrics.

Pros

  • Payroll
  • Talent Management
  • Data analytics
  • Recruiting and Onboarding
  • Benefit Administration

Cons

  • Workflows - the module can be glitchy and isn't as customizable as it could be
  • Reporting - it would be great if it was easier to customize and build reports, instead of relying on stock reporting
  • Easier navigation with security roles - there are many things we can't change, and then many features that are confusing and not a lot of detail describing what they do

Likelihood to Recommend

Paylocity truly does give you a lot of resources for the cost. We use the full suite, and 99% of what I need to accomplish can be done through Paylocity. The self-service for employee experience is great, and employees are able to tackle many tasks on their own. Paylocity is also great about releasing product updates, and we can offer feedback on the system experience. Overall we are really impressed with the platform.

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am in the HR department and am a super admin for the company I work for. I utilize the Recruiting and the Onboarding sections in Paylocity the most in my role. Paylocity for our company addressed everything we need for HR, Payroll, and Employee Information we were looking for. In recruiting and onboarding it has helped streamline our processes and efforts finding the right candidates and bringing them onto our team and company. I also appreciate the constant updates and new innovations they roll out to help us as clients operate even better.

Pros

  • constant updates and innovations roll out every year
  • the streamline efforts of payroll and recruiting/onboarding
  • helpful knowledge-based area that can provide blogs on questions the clients have

Cons

  • ticket response timing
  • reporting migrations with other reports
  • reporting creation in payroll/reimbursement allocations

Likelihood to Recommend

This is my first HRIS system as an admin, but I would say Paylocity is definitely well suited when wanting to have a system that is overall good in all sections. I really enjoy the recruitment and onboarding sections and think they have done a really good job in making it seamless as possible for candidates and new hires. I've not really experienced a section that Paylocity is less appropriate for.

Automation for HR Generalists

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My organization uses Paylocity for recruitment, performance management, payroll, compliance tracking, workforce planning, reporting, and so much more. As the human resources manager, I oversee nearly all Paylocity functions and primarily use it for recruitment, onboarding, and compliance. With clear dashboards like learning, employee eligibility and skills & certifications, I can make sure my employees are compliant from day one!

Pros

  • User accessibility
  • Data and reporting
  • Employee engagement
  • Customer service and training

Cons

  • Onboarding packets on the company level rather than company set level
  • Surveys can't automatically launch upon offboarding
  • Learning management is difficult for multi-company establishments

Likelihood to Recommend

Paylocity is well suited for small-sized HR teams that do it all. It is a very user-friendly HRIS system for new HR generalists that need to learn all of the products. I came over from Oracle and feel like I could master Paylocity much, much quicker. It is a relief for our employees that everything lives in Paylocity rather than separate log ins and platforms.

Paylocity will rock your world

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Paylocity is a great tool to manage different employee types within one payroll run like salaries, hourly with time cards, seasonal, etc. Customer service team are the absolute best, no matter the question or issue, they come through with flying colors with a solution and assistance for future events. LOVE them!!!

Pros

  • customer service
  • reports
  • ease of processing
  • employee interface accessibility

Cons

  • Payroll Run interface is a little awkward to use
  • benefits enrollment and making changes for employees
  • time card rounding of hours

Likelihood to Recommend

Paylocity is great for employee information access and updating. To run a payroll frequently or for specialty bonuses, Paylocity is easy to use. Open enrollment annually for employees or change of status for loss or gain of benefits is a little difficult for employees to utilize o their own, they usually come to HR for assistance.

Clocking in and out for hourly people with Time and Labor is wonderful.
