Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use PrinterLogic on all user endpoints. It significantly simplifies all aspects of management and administration. Selecting the printer becomes a user task and doesn't require help desk intervention. We set the appropriate drivers in the portal, and the system installs them. Also completely eliminates the need for a print server. Many of our people don't use the secure printing feature, but several have appreciated having that capability.

Pros

  • No. Print. Server.
  • Easy printer install for end users.
  • Simplifies driver management.
  • Read the first one again. Let that soak in. No more stuck queues.

Cons

  • Metrics? I guess.
  • Identify and notify about outdated drivers.

Return on Investment

  • A LOT fewer Help Desk calls. There will always be that one guy though. iykyk.
  • I don't have to patch, maintain, or even *have* a print server.

We utilized PrinterLogic in our org to eliminate traditional print servers. Deploying printers as cloud resources across all of our branch offices made managing our existing fleet and adding new devices a breeze. Even though PrinterLogic is a product you really can set and forget, it also incorporates useful utilities for other departments in our organization, such as pulling print job records by branch, user, and copier. It is a great way to get an idea of the total cost of printing in your organization.

Pros

  • Security around printer objects and print restrictions.
  • Driver repository management across OS & CPU Architecture.
  • Deployment of objects/auto discovery across IP ranges.
  • Reporting of individual copiers, branches, and users.

Cons

  • Notification of new client releases.
  • The GUI of the admin and client portals could use a little polishing.
  • Alerts for objects that have not checked in within a certain timeframe would be nice.

Return on Investment

  • The bulk of our printing related helpdesk tickets are now solely due to user error or a physical issue with the copier.
  • The time it takes to spin up copiers in a new office is literally minutes. Especially if you have the driver already ready to go in your repository!
  • Allowing a simple one click installation for the end user, with the auto discovery already pointing them to the office they're located. It just works!

We use PrinterLogic to manage all of our printers. Both installing and managing them. Working in the legal industry means we need a literal paper trail for everything, and having printers is crucial to our business.

Pros

  • Ease of managing drivers and profiles.
  • moving printers from one location to another.
  • Updating printer names.

Cons

  • We have struggled to get SNMP to work properly across all printers.
  • Some of the reporting data that I need isn't readily available. Particularly, what printers are installed on which computers.

Return on Investment

  • We have a 3-year lease on all our printers, which means there is a constant update cycle, and Printer Logic makes it so I don't have to go into the office every time there is a new printer to add to someone's computer.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use PrinterLogic to manage the printer fleet over 13 buildings for both Apple and Windows computers. We were having a lot of issues with our CUPS servers, as well as driver distribution, printer assignments, roaming profiles, printer updates and moves, and central management. With over 700 devices and roaming staff, printer management was difficult. It also addressed the excess printers that some users had because they did roam to other buildings and previously had to install all the printers they used.

  • I would like to see the same kind of Driver Extraction for Windows computers that is available for Macs, especially for HP devices

  • We can upload a single driver and distribute to all computers instead of having to upload a driver to our MDM for EVERY printer

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We were looking for a cheaper alternative/ cloud based tool to replace our Papercut solution. We stumbled upon PrinterLogic and have been using it for 2 years now. We have multiple construction sites and multiple plants. Using both pullprint and the printer install portal for remote sites. Functionality for PrinterLogic has grown to include signing now as well as other functions unrelated to basic printing but all included in the same license.

Pros

  • Pullprinting released via phone app
  • Printer install portal to install printers in 1 click
  • Free signing up to 400 documents per year
  • easy deployment to all computers

Cons

  • Relatively new company 2 years ago, there were a lot of bugs
  • Only compatible with v3 printerdrivers
  • needs some user training but fairly straightforward
  • Phone apps on android or iPhone used to have some glitches

Return on Investment

  • Pricing was much cheaper than competitors
  • A lot of value in 1 package (pullprint, printportal, signing, cloud)
  • admin console is very complete with all info about the ink volumes and printing
  • auto install printers with IP ranges when people enter different buildings (useful for companies with a lot of sites)
