We use it for invoice creation, payroll, timesheets, deposits, reconciliation, financial reports, etc. We do not have problems with it. We wish it could have multiple administrators when connecting it with our budget software. Sometimes, it doesn't keep our accrued time correctly.

  • Timesheet
  • reconcilation
  • Account payable
  • Account receivable

  • Tracking the budget to expense
  • payroll section still need improvement

  • Inventory Tracking.
  • Account Reconciliation.

Cons

  • Accessibility
  • Bank Feed Connection.

Quickbooks Desktop is my preferred way to run payroll and ensure the returns get filed and paid on time and accurately.

Best Accounting Purchase for any Business.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I'm the sole employee and QuickBooks program has been the best decision I could have made for the organization. We are a very small not for profit and even though we don't have a whole lot of income/expenses/line items, QuickBooks works very well for us. The only issue I encounter is when dealing with new sales and customizing our own invoice/statements.

Pros

  • Reports
  • Detailed summaries
  • Customer history

Cons

  • sales invoices
  • detailed receipts

This is a great accounting program for our small business, but will work just as well for larger organizations. Very simple to use.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Quickbooks for Mac is awesome! I use it for all my accounting needs. It is labeled as the #1 accounting software for small business or non-profits businesses. I would highly recommend it to anyone in need of reliable, dependable, and easy-to-use software. For those that don't have too much experience with accounting software, this one will be easy to navigate through, especially for owners that don't have a bookkeeper or accounting dept, QuickBooks for Mac will help you get things done easily. I highly recommend it!

Pros

  • Downloading Bank & credit card account transactions
  • Easy to access reports
  • Easy to record transactions

Cons

  • It needs improvement in integration with other softwares
  • It needs non-profit improvement

Likelihood to Recommend

Quickbooks for Mac is just the perfect accounting software to use. It includes everything you need.

DON'T BUY QUICKBOOKS FOR MAC

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I have used Quickbooks Desktop for Mac for about 4 months. I wish I could get my money back but I'm outside the 60-day window that they allow for full refunds. Overall, my experience with Quickbooks for Mac has been the largest train wreck that I've ever experienced. Tech support is incredibly hard to get a hold of and once you do, they tell you that you have to call back for another department. How insanely difficult it can be to just talk with a human. Once you do get the right department, they put you on hold for hours trying to figure out what is wrong. I've done a clean install and re-booted a million times. I am so incredibly disappointed with my purchase decision that I am now looking at Quickbooks alternatives. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROJECT TO ANYONE!

Pros

  • Nothing

Cons

  • Every topic

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

QuickBooks Desktop for Mac is being used by myself for personal transactions while QuickBooks Online is being used by the organization. It handles my bookkeeping, budgeting, and tax preparation needs.

Pros

  • Accounts are easily created and managed.
  • Reports are easy to create and read.
  • Data entry is simple and easy to accomplish.

Cons

  • The overall function and features are satisfactory.
  • There was a problem sharing over the internet which forced me to move to online Quickbooks.
  • Getting to a customer service rep is not easy.

Likelihood to Recommend

QuickBooks Desktop for Mac is well suited for a 1-user scenario. When you try to add two people, the internet connection no longer works.

Piece of cake accounting!

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it for our products and sales. It addresses all the accounting reports, invoices, monitor our sales and expenses, plus other accounts.

I use Quickbooks Payroll for multiple organizations to process all aspects of payroll. I have used it for our employees. I also use it to prepare for our monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for government tax agencies. It makes my life so much easier to have all my clients in the same place. I can plan my own work with reminders and to-do lists for my clients. The added features are amazing!

Pros

  • Quickbooks payroll
  • iCalendar
  • Mac OS address books

Cons

  • Customer support
  • Interface
  • Credit card processing

Likelihood to Recommend

The software is less buggy and runs more seamlessly, but there are hardly any latest features, and there's still not a single integration, though it is easy to understand and manage, that's why I like it. Entering and sending payroll is a piece of cake. Fairly good functionality.

When it comes to customer support it was quite frustrating to wait for a representative to help me. It took me over 20 minutes, but the good thing was my issue resolved.

QuickBooks Desktop for Mac is not the greatest - but if you already know how to do bookkeeping it's a pretty good option.

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I currently use QuickBooks Desktop for Mac for both of my companies. I would be lying if I said I love it. But let me clarify a little - I am NOT a numbers person. I have never had any training at all in accounting or bookkeeping. Like many people, I had to learn how to do things because I decided to start a business and suddenly realized that everything needed to be tracked, saved, etc and did not have the resources to hire bookkeeper. So I learned on the fly. And I'm still learning. It's not the most intuitive software but at this point I'm familiar enough with it that it gets the job done of keeping our books and generating the reports I need come tax time and, more regularly, to see how the business is doing.

Pros

  • Adding customers, vendors, employees, etc. is pretty simple and quick.
  • The reports you can generate are excellent and in credibly helpful - get as birdseye view or detailed as you like.

Cons

  • On the support side - there has always been discrepancies between QB Desktop for Mac vs. Windows and there's just a lot more out there for Windows Desktop. Plus, Intuit has not been shy in making clear that they'd rather everyone migrate over to Quickbooks Online (which I tried and is terrible), and so the support for Desktop seems to be getting minimized or put by the wayside.
  • In the most recent version (2020) the program crashes WAY too much. I've never had this problem before and I'm hoping that they release updates to fix it.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you're a freelancer or running a very small business where you do your own bookkeeping I think this is a great option, especially if you're familiar with accounting and bookkeeping in general. If you're not so familiar with bookkeeping, I would say that the learning curve is too steep and you might want to look elsewhere for a more intuitive solution.

QuickBooks Desktop for Mac Version - Invest your time to go through the online training and use YouTube self help videos.

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use QuickBooks Desktop for Mac as my primary first-line service to account for all incomes and expenditures. We recently took over the frontline job of accounting from our CPA. I am a new user to QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. The desktop version for Mac is the software that I use daily to keep current with income and expenses from deposits, credit card transactions, and all outgoing expenses.

Pros

  • All encompassing financial tool
  • Online Tutorials and YouTube self help videos
  • Strong online repository for seeking answers to basic questions
  • Total Cost for Ownership

Cons

  • The user interface is not as intuitive as the PC version of the software.
  • QuickBooks Desktop for Mac was very late in publishing the new edition of software

Likelihood to Recommend

I like how it integrates your credit card statement into the software as well as your companies banking information. You set this up one time, and the feed then becomes automatic. Additionally, the importing of both checking and your preferred corporate credit card is a nice feature. Once you have updated the charge one time for a recurring fee, the following month, the software will automatically apply the same description. This saves a lot of time in updating.

QuickBooks ideal for small businesses not mid to large-sized businesses

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It was being used by our organization for all accounting tasks such as month-end close, posting invoices, posting receivables, etc. It is the first accounting software we have used so it basically allows us to organize our transactions into profit and loss/balance sheets for all our entities. It has a lot of good short cuts to make posting transactions quicker.

Pros

  • A plethora of good short cuts.
  • Ease of posting journal entries.
  • The advanced search feature.

Cons

  • Managing multiple entities.
  • Freezing during long journal entries.
  • Inability to import journal entries.
  • Meant for smaller businesses, we outgrew QuickBooks.

Likelihood to Recommend

I would highly recommend QuickBooks to smaller businesses with less than 5 or so entities. It is not appropriate for medium to large-sized businesses with a lot of daily transactions and multiple entities.
