Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are a supplier, and our customers integrate with our systems using SAP Business Network. Customers only have to integrate with SAP Business Network 1 time, then have access to any of their vendors who are also integrated with the platform simplifying procurement with their vendors.

Pros

  • Communicate with the community
  • Solicit feedback from partners
  • Provide solutions to customer needs for simplified procurement
  • Utilize standard schemas and data flows to ease vendor integrations

Cons

  • Push standard "out of the box" onboarding to simplify integrations
  • utilize supplier experience and knowledge to improve the onboarding process
  • communicate coming changes and enhancements so suppliers know of new functionality through newsletters or webinars

Likelihood to Recommend

Large companies want to simplify procurement with their vendor community. Using a platform such as SAP Business Network greatly simplifies this, and does not lock customers to 1 single supplier like direct integration does.

A platform for smarter supply chain management.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

In our organization, we primarily use SAP Business Network for supplier collaboration, tracking purchase orders, and managing invoices. To connect directly with vendors, share documents securely on a single platform, and track transactions in real time. Business problems it addresses are manual errors in purchase order management and invoice processing. We mainly use SAP Business Network for procurement-related processes.

Pros

  • Real-time order tracking: When a purchase order is created, suppliers can confirm it directly in the system. We can then see the status immediately without having to chase them via email.
  • Supplier interaction: Vendors can upload shipping details, update delivery dates, or report issues directly on the platform.
  • Analytics and insights: Aystem provides dashboards that show spend by category, supplier performance, and payment cycle.

Cons

  • User interface and navigation: For new users, simple tasks like searching for a specific purchase order or invoice require multiple clicks.
  • Small Suppliers: Smaller suppliers sometimes struggle to establish a presence on the network. The registration process is lengthy, and individuals often require additional knowledge and training.

Likelihood to Recommend

If your organization processes a large number of purchase orders and invoices every month/year, SAP Business Network is very effective, whereas smaller vendors without strong IT support sometimes struggle with setup and ongoing use. making onboarding and training a barrier.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Working with SAP Business Network is that everything is now simply easier. And in between there is a learning process (and perhaps some grumbling in the beginning), but once you get in there, so many of those irritating manual tasks go away. Teamwork is easy, and you always feel reassured that you do not miss an emerging hot financial topic.

Pros

  • With the SAP Business Network, it is possible to get live access to your financial figures; thus, you are always dealing with the new info rather than last week's stale info.
  • This platform allows you to create specific and detailed, customizable reports covering just about any situation.
  • SAP Business Network sticks all your finance apps together and ensures that your data is moving and that your manual errors are kept under control.

Cons

  • You will not become the wizard overnight. The interface is cluttered and will take a little getting used to, even to somebody who is a professional.
  • Though there are numerous choices, many times to get that dream report, one has to navigate through excessively many settings.
  • Unless you know how to be careful with your choices, the system will be glad to spice you up with the pings nonstop.

Likelihood to Recommend

I remember the first time we ran SAP Business Network on the final quarterly close; that was an enormous close, and everything was flowing. The improvements allowed various teams to align perfectly with each other, and reporting to the stakeholders was a walk in the park. Yet at that time, we were feeding aged ERP system data, and integration became more complex, indeed. There was a delay on data matching, and we basically had to clean manually.
